SS3 Day 5 Week 3

Hello

PE: Everything we do in Music Together, we do for a reason. It may seem silly in the moment but behind the sillyness or repetition are important learning opportunities for your child. Like all that silly play with the resting tone we just did helps them learn to hear that note and gives them some ways to practice it. So I’ll highlight some of these things today so you can make them a part of your musical play at home. 

Singing Everyday w/ scarves CD

  • Set up two teams/groups clearly on opposite sides – two lines facing each other standing
  • PE that scarves are fun but they also visually highlight phrasing and beat. We’re going to highlight how this songs phrasing models conversation - we sing/you sing. So stick with your team and watch the music come alive in the scarves for all of us (referencing children and adults) to see. Can do a quick model singing for reference – see video.
  • Each team throws the scarf up and catches it when they sing the first down beat of each phrase.
  • During interlude initiate freer movement and then fade out CD at the end and reintroduce call and response without CD
  • La la’s into Free Movement
