Opportunities

The Personal, Social and Health Education and Citizenship Framework also recommends that pupils at KS1 be taught Knowledge, Skills and Understanding by being given opportunities to :

Skills

  • take and share responsibility [for example, for their own behaviour; by helping to make classroom rules and following them; by looking after pets well]
  • make real choices
  • meet and talk with people
  • ask for help

Attitudes

  • Feel positive about themselves
  • Take part in discussions
  • Consider social and moral dilemmas that they come across in everyday life [eg attitudes towards smoking and alcohol]*
