Hertfordshire Business Services (HBS) is the name of the head office function that manages a variety of Business Units on behalf of the Authority including:

Hertfordshire Contract Management Services are responsible for the management of a wide range of contracts including amongst others cleaning, grounds maintenance and signage.

Hertfordshire Supplies catalogue service, which manages the purchasing and distribution of over 13000 products. As well as HCC the service has an external customer base including schools, police, charities and other Authorities across England.

Hertfordshire Reprographicsis the print and design service. Services provided range from network printing through to full colour litho printing and the provision of stationery, booklets and DVD/CD's etc.

Hertfordshire Fleet Management Services manage a wide range of activities and services including vehicle purchasing, lease cars and County Transport Services.

Purchasing Advice Service is here to help you purchase any goods or services your establishment requires.

This is a free and confidential servicesfor schools which offers one point of contact for all your goods and services purchasing needs.

The team has access to over 100 EU compliant , competitively tendered contracts that have been put in place for the benefit of all Public Sector organization these include areas such as:

All contract have been through a competitive tender process to determine best value so there is no need to obtain additional quotations.

Hertfordshire Contract Management Services

Hertfordshire Contract Management Services (HCMS) manages a wide range of activities and services including cleaning, grounds and tree maintenance, energy, signage contracts as well as portable appliance and swimming pool.

We manage all contract documentationincludingany variations required to meet specific customer needs along with a tailor made specification, meeting all contract regulations and audit requirements all at a competitive price.

We have anexperienced, professional team covering all disciplines, administration and contractual support.

CLEANING SERVICES

Our experienced Contract Cleaning team can arrange tailor made contracts for your site. We will take care of the entire contracting procedure from placing the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) advert, to vetting potential suppliers and carrying out evaluation bids.

Throughout the term of the contract the team will provide support to your site by carrying out site visits, meeting contractors, assessing quality of work and ensuring all contractual documents and procedures are adhered to.

The teams are also available to help with any other cleaning related works or issues, such as:

Caretaker Training - A training course available for both caretakers and cleaning operatives which is BICs Certified. The course lasts two days (lunch is provided) and covers Health and Safety (including COSHH), Chemical competence, Safe use of machinery, buffing, spray cleaning, single solution mopping, stain removal and toilet cleaning.
In-house Service Support - If you have your own in-house service we can provide additional support for you. Our in-house support service includes an annual quality inspection and report, handbook and advice on all areas including equipment, materials, hours and specifications.
Specialist Cleaning Services - We can arrange for all aspects of specialist cleaning services to be carried out from high level building and kitchen cleaning to stripping and resealing or sanding of wooden floors.

Window Cleaning - We currently have a window cleaning contract that has been tendered to cover all sites in Hertfordshire. There is an allocated contractor for your area of the County who will provide as many cleans as you require at times specified by you throughout the year. Invoices are also paid centrally and direct debited monthly.

GROUNDS MAINTENANCE

Customers can either select an existing tendered grounds maintenance contract featuring fully vetted and approved contractors or can opt for a tailored contract specific for your site.

The team can also arrange any specialist works you require such as:

Tree Surveys - Comprehensive visual surveys followed by a detailed report with prioritised recommendations; vital for health and safety on your site.
Arboriculture - We can arrange for all aspects of tree work to be carried out by fully approved contractors who conform to current legislation
Horticulture - Regular maintenance and a variety of one-off jobs including; grass cutting; litter picking; one-off site tidies; clearing redundant vegetation and rubbish.

Site Development - We can provide advice, assist in design and introduce skilled contractors to undertake all forms of soft and hard landscape work including:
Planting, construction and improvement of quadrangles, patios, steps, pathways and seating, fencing for aesthetic and protective needs, or ‘grounds re-instatement following building work’, sports field, and drainage work, sports field design and construction.
Conservation and Wildlife - This is a very specialist area of development for your site which can provide many education and environmental benefits. We can advise and help you select specialist providers in the field to ensure the best possible results when introducing a variety of features and activities into your site, for example:
Ponds, bog gardens, ecological land and wildlife management, wildlife trails, nurturing and encouraging of indigenous, protected and threatened species including bats and butterflies.

SIGNAGE

The council has contracts in place with approved sign suppliers who can provide all types of signs for Hertfordshire County Council’s buildings and sites including schools.

We will manage the entire process of surveying, designing, costing, supply and installation of signs.

Although not a contractual arrangement the team are also on hand to provide support and advice on Copyright Licenses ensuring your school complies with the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988.

There are now many different licenses that schools may be required to acquire of which we have provided a handbook to help you decided what applies to your school some of which will centrally funded by Hertfordshire County Council and other that will need to be paid for by the school. Hertfordshire Reprographics is the internal print and design service of HCC offering a comprehensive and cost effective range of products.

We offer a full range of modern, ecologically aware printing solutions from simple black-on-white copier services to full colour litho print.

We also produce a wide range of printed materials including:

Design

Discs can be plain or printed including full colour images. Cases and wraps are also available.

We have contracts in place with approved suppliers who can provide vehicle livery for Hertfordshire County Council’s vehicle fleet which includes cars, vans, trucks, fire appliances, mobile libraries and school minibuses.
