Hero Creative Assignment
For this assignment you will create a unique Hero (either a Medieval Romance hero, or a Greek Hero) who possesses the unique traits that a hero in that genre is supposed to possess. You will then create a story for this hero, and this story must also possess the characteristics of either a Greek Epic or a Medieval Romance. Regardless of which option you chose, your story must contain the following: A hero (obviously), some sort of quest or adventure, a theme, and all of the elements of fiction (remember those?).
Medieval Romance:
If you chose to create a medieval romance, make sure your story contains all the elements of a Medieval Romance. There are 6 traits in particular of a Medieval Romance that we looked at in class. I expect all of these to be present in your story, as well as a knight(s) which uphold the code of chivalry. If you need a refresher on the traits and the code of chivalry check your notes or page 5 in the heroes file we’ve been working out of.
Greek Epic:
If you chose to create a Greek Epic, you will again need to make sure you have included the characteristics of that genre (page 43 in the file) as well as epithet and epic simile. Also, make sure to include the characteristics of a Greek Hero, both those that you found on your own and those on pages 42-43 in the epic file.
You have several options for completing this assignment:
Option 1: Comic Life
You can create a comic book of your hero/story. You will complete this using the Comic Life app on the iPad. You will need to check out an iPad to do this and your Comic will need to be at least 10 pages with 4 frames per page.
Option 2: Written
You can create a written story for your hero and story. This must be typed and double space, with a minimum of two pages and no more than three pages.
Option 3: Song or Audio Book (Garage Band)
You can create a ballad that recalls the events of your story and hero using Garage Band or a similar program. Remember, the song still needs to contain all of the elements of whichever genre you choose. You may either rewrite the lyrics to a song or create your own song. If you need the instrumental version of the song, let me know. You may check out an iPad if you need to, or if you have similar software on your home computer/laptop you may use that as well. If you choose this option the quality of your voice (not singing voice) and inflection will also be judged.
Option 4: Music Video
Like the song only you will actually be creating a music video. The expectation is there will be video as well as audio used to tell the story and that music will also play a part. Again, if you need an instrumental track of a popular song, let me know. See sample video for the expectation.
