Heritage Out of School Time (HOST) - Lead & Assistant Teacher Positions

Heritage Community Initiatives located in Braddock is seeking compassionate, flexible, creative, energetic and reliable Lead and AssistantTeachers for the Heritage Out of School Time (HOST) program. HOST provides before and after school support to children in grades K-8. Our program is licensed by the Department of Public Welfare (DPW), affiliated with the National Association for the Education of Young children (NAEYC), and has received STAR 4 status, the highest rating possible, through Keystone STARS, a quality improvement program dedicated to fostering successful futures in school and life.HOST program hours are from 6 – 8:45 am and 3 – 6:00 pm. We desire candidates who would be interested in working any of these times. Part-time teaching positions are available, as well as substitute and/or student teaching opportunities.

Responsibilities

  1. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of students with an emphasis on supporting the individual needs of each child.
  2. Ensure all interactions with children; including verbal, physical, instructive and behavioral management, are positive, engaging and developmentally appropriate.
  3. Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate daily schedule and weekly lesson plans in accordance with the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards and licensing requirements.
  4. Develop individual goals for each child based on assessments and observations
  5. Supervise and direct the classroom staff in a professional manner; as well as provide guidance and skill development support as needed.
  6. Promptly inform the Program Manager of any classroom staff, child or parent issues.
  7. Establish and maintain a positive team oriented working relationship with parents, staff and partnering organizations.
  8. Conduct Parent/Teacher Conferences based on agency schedule and at the request of the parent.
  9. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding child/family information and records.
  10. Ensure compliance with all NAEYC, Keystone STARS, Head Start, DPW and all other organizational compliance requirements.

Requirements:

  • Lead Teachers: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education or Bachelors in a related field.
  • Assistant Teachers: Minimum Associate Degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education or Bachelors in a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in an Early Childhood Education or School Age setting preferred.
  • Must have clearances (FBI/Child Abuse/Criminal Background), current physical and TB or be willing to apply within 30 days of hire.
