Welcome to Freshman Football!

Below is some key information and dates you will need to know going into your freshman year of High School Football.

June 23rd, 2014 – July 12, 2014 5pm – 7pm Mon-Wed

Summer Program – Heritage High School Stadium

This program will allow us to begin conditioning, evaluating and teaching the incoming freshman football players. There is no cost for this program. We will go through basic football techniques as well as begin teaching the Heritage High School offense and defense. The freshman will run 3 days/week (Monday-Wednesday). There are no pads for these sessions, Shorts/T-Shirts/Cleats only. All players must bring their own water! We will not work the week of 6/30 – 7/4.

July 14, 2014 – August 8, 2014 5pm – 7pm Mon-Thurs

Summer Camp – Heritage High School Stadium

This is a full contact camp and the cost to attend this camp is $60. Forms will be available this summer. Pads will be issued prior to this period of time based on performance during the Summer Program. We will continue to build upon the skills learned during the Summer Program and further refine the offense and defensive sides of the ball, but we will run 4 days/week 2 hours/session. All players must bring their own water.

School Schedule

Once school begins practice will be every day. Mondays we will practice 6pm – 8pm. Tuesdays-Fridays we will practice 3:30pm – 5:45pm. Once games begin we will practice Mondays 6pm – 8pm, Tuesdays-Wednesdays 3:30pm – 5:45pm, with our games typically on Thursdays at 5:00pm. We do not typically have practices on Fridays, though in some circumstances we may call for a special practice. Note you will need to make arrangements to have your player back on campus at 6pm Monday evenings. Once games start we may have film sessions, etc. More information on that to come.

Scheduling Notes

We realize that many people have scheduled vacation during part of the sessions noted above. Please let the coaches know as soon as possible so that we are aware that your child will be out. Also please note going beyond the Freshman level that the breaks that we take (the first week right after school and the week including 4th of July) are the same breaks taken by Junior Varsity and Varsity, and at those levels attendance is mandatory, so schedule future vacations accordingly.

Equipment

Heritage will issue Helmets, Mouthguard, Shoulder pads, leg pads, practice jersey, pants, and two game jerseys to each player. The players are responsible to return these items in good condition at the end of the season.

Players are responsible for: Cleats, athletic supporter, cup, and any other equipment they feel they need (like gloves). For all athletic items (cleats, gloves, under armor), they can only be Black or White, No other colors are acceptable.

Fundraising

There are no fees charged by the school to play football (other than the camp fee). However we have two mandatory fundraisers that the players need to participate in. The first is selling cards with coupons to local businesses. Each player is typically responsible for selling 20 cards. This fundraising event will kick off in mid-July.

The second fundraiser is an e-mail/letter campaign. Each player will be responsible for bringing 10 e-mail addresses and completing 10 forms with names and addresses for this fundraiser, so please start collecting that information now.

All of these funds go to support the program, helping us buy new uniforms, equipment, etc. The freshman are just coming into the program so they benefit the most in the long run, so please plan to participate. More information to come in July!
