February Newsletter
Here we are in the month of February, the month of love.
What better topic to cover?! February will be a short but busy month. Seeing that Punxsutawney Phil DID see his shadow, we know that springtime won’t be on the way for 6 more weeks!!!
Catholic schools week was a lot of fun. I particularly enjoyed crazy hairday. We not only had a wide assortment of hairstyles but many different hair colors as well.
Pajama day was a “cozy” day where we got to relax and read books in our jammies! Thanks to all of you who donated pajamas to Angie’s Place. I’m sure they will be greatly appreciated.
It was also fun to see the various sports represented on “sport” day! Football, basketball, hockey, ballet just to name a few.
Making a “kiss” should be a fun project. (These are actually Rice Krispie treats) made in the shape of a “Kiss” and wrapped in foil as a gift to their parents.
Making valentines is our next project. The children will be making a special card for you and they will be distributed at our Valentine’s Day performance.
A Valentine’s party/performance is sure to be a lot of fun. The children will be practicing theirpoems/song which will be filled with lots of love!
Please see room parents to see if any supplies/crafts are needed for this special day.
Learning about our hearts will be the final topic of the month. Once again if there are any doctors/nurses who would be willing to come in and share their expertise with the children it would be very much appreciated.
There will be no school on Friday, February 16th for a teachers workshop and on Monday, February 19th for President’s Day.
We will have winter vacation on the week of Feb 26th – Mar. 5th.
Please remember to send in hats, mittens, snow pantsand boots with your child. If 1 child is not properly dressed it makes it difficult to keep them dry and isn’t very much fun for them to keep out of the snow. Unfortunately we’ve had a lot of very cold weather and ice which has prohibited us from getting outdoors as much as we’d like. Let’s hope that changes so we can get out and play in the snow!
We will continue our Mystery Reader program. (There are several dates still available) The children have been enjoying this immensely! Thank you to all who have already come in and read, made a craft or even provided a yummy snack to coincide with the story!
* There will be a Valentine’s Day party/performance on Wednesday,February 14th @ 11:15. Parents may distribute valentines AFTER the performance to avoid confusion or being misplaced. We will be making Valentine holders to put them in.
* Just a reminder that if your child has had a fever/bad cough in the last 24 hours or has not been feeling well, please keep them home so they will be %100 percent when they return to school. We have had a lot of sickness this year and need to keep germs at bay. The flu this year is not to be taken lightly- scary stuff.
As always, thank you for all you do to make our classes so special! And thank you for sharing your beautiful children with me – I love them all!!!
Ms. Donna
