Parents and students,

I would like to start off by welcoming students back to school! I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer and is ready to start a new school year. I enjoy teaching 6th grade communication arts and I know it will be a great year.

Here is the course syllabus and all information you might need to know.

Materials
Pencils
Loose-leaf paper
Dry erase markers (just 1 for my class)
Class Expectations
1. Be on time to class.
2. Have all materials ready when bell rings.
3. Always have a book to read when you come to class.
4. Show respect towards your classmates and myself. Raise your hand when you need to speak and do not interrupt others while they are speaking.
5. Always give me your best effort! All I ask is that you try to do your best work.

Grading Scale

93-100%A
82-92%B
70-81%C
60-69%D
0-59%F
Grades
Most of the grades in my class will come from daily assignments as well as tests. I also will be taking some spelling grades. We will also complete writing assignments throughout each quarter which will be graded.

Homework
I generally will not give nightly homework assignments, however, there maybe some nights that an extra assignment may be given. I fully expect homework to be completed on time since the students will not always have homework from me.

Please refer to the attached sheet to read the requirements for the homework program.

Workbooks

The students will have a workbook that is used in my class as well Mrs. Loring’s class. They will need to bring it to class each day and be responsible for keeping up with it!

Agendas
I do not require parents to sign their child’s agenda every night, but I do ask that you check his/her agenda on a regular basis. The students will write down their daily assignments so that parents may keep up with what is going on in class. Be aware that if your child has not turned in an assignment you will need to look at his/her agenda. The agenda is my first line of communication when I need to inform you of important information!

This year I will also be using Parentlink to get in touch with you or to make announcements to all parents of 6th graders.

Contact Information
If you need to get in touch with me, you may reach me by email at . You may also reach me at 256-6150 during my planning period or after school.

If you need to get a message delivered to your child during the day, it must be called in to the office before 2:45 each day. There may be extenuating circumstances but please try and have it taken care of before school or before 2:45.
