Here is some guidance on how to complete some of the less obvious fields on this form:
Aim Reference
This should be the Aim Reference code for the qualification that the learner is being enrolled on. The qualifications and their Aim Reference code come from the LARA database ( If you don’t know what this is then you can either leave it blank or speak to your Learning Curve contact. Your contact should be aware of what the aim reference is as long as the title of the course / apprenticeship has been given on the form.
Partner UKPRN
If you are partner who is funding your course by subcontracting to The Learning Curve then you need to put your UKPRN here. If you don’t know your UKPRN speak to your Learning Curve contact, or alternatively, search for your organisation on the UKRLP database (
Proportion of Funding Remaining
This field is used to reduce funding where a significant amount of the learning has already been delivered to learner before funding started to be claimed. An example of this is where a learner who has already attained units towards a larger qualification at a different training provider now wants to be funded for the final units towards that larger qualification. Another common example is where a learner has returned from an agreed break in learning. The most accurate way to proportion to the funding is to divide the number of guided learning hours that will be delivered to complete the final parts or full qualification by the number of guided learning hours that would have been planned to deliver the whole qualification. This number is then multiplied by 100 to give the percentage, which then is written in this field.
Tick if this is a restart after a break in learning
Some learners need a break in their learning. When this happens we need to close the period of learning they started using an End of Course form that states they went on an agreed break in learning. When they return (or restart) we must create a new start of course form that details their return to learning. This includes new start and expected end dates as well as ticking this box to indicate that they have restarted on a new period of learning.
Full / Co Funding
Certain types of funding attract 2 rates of funding: a full rate and a partial rate. This is determined by a number of eligibility factors set out in the SFA’s funding guidance. Please only complete this if you understand the eligibility rules, otherwise leave this to your Learning Curve contact to complete or instruct you on how to complete it.
Programme Type
For apprenticeship aims we must declare whether the Apprenticeship is intermediate level (level 2), advanced level (level 3 or above). For intermediate level put “03”, for advanced level “02” (this numbering may seem counterintuitive, but it is the specified codes for these levels for apprenticeship).
Framework Code & Apprenticeship Pathway
Like the Learning Aim Reference both the Framework Code and the Apprenticeship Pathway for an apprenticeship can be found on LARA.
Additional Learning Needs & Additional Social Needs
We are able to use ALS funding to support learners who have an identified barrier to their learning goal because of either their learning difficulty needs and/or their social needs. If assessment shows either of these, speak to your Learning Curve contact about accessing this funding.
