The Henry Sanborn Music Scholarship is awarded each year to Towson University students in piano and voice. One voice student and one piano student will share a recital (approximately 30 minutes each) in the Harold J. Kaplan Concert Hall. Each scholarship winner will receive a cash award to be credited towards tuition.
The criteria for the award are:
· Contribution to the Music Department
· Financial need
· Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Winners are selected by the faculty of their respective divisions. Voice Applicant Winner will be responsible for paying their pianist for the public recital.
Voice students: Qualified students will be asked to sing 1 selection chosen by the faculty panel in the preliminary auditions. The final audition will be an open audition in the Kaplan Concert Hall for the 3-4 finalists chosen from the preliminary audition. Applicants should attach a typed list of repertoire selections totaling a minimum of 25 minutes in length and a maximum of 30. It should include selections in different languages and style periods. Applicants must be prepared to sing a 20-minute audition and a 25-30 minute recital program. The winner will perform the program as submitted, although minor adjustments to this program are acceptable if approved by his/her applied teacher.
