HENLEY SUZUKI VIOLIN GROUPS
Summer Term 2017
Allsessions are at the Christchurch Centre, Reading Road, Henley and are mostly in Morris 2, but look out for signs as this sometimes changes.
Don’t forget that I expect parents of children up to at least age 9 to stay for the whole session. Apart from the fact that groups are an important part of the learning process and you might pick up some good ideas for helping with practice at home, if your child is taken ill or needs to go out to the toilet, I can’t be responsible for them when in the middle of the lesson. I suggest that if you do have to leave you arrange for one of the other parents to keep an eye on your child. It is then essential that you are back before the end of the session, as I can’t always keep track of children leaving the room.
NB. The start times listed below are for tuning, so you need toarrive 10 minutes before and unpack quietly so as not to disturb the previous group. There was a problem last term with some players arriving late, so please build in extra time as it is not always possible to park at Christchurch - you may be better parking at the Station and allowing time for walking from there (approx. 5 minutes).
Please let me know in advance if you’re notfree on any of the dates.
Our concert this term is on Sunday 11 June in Oxford with other Suzuki groups from London, Oxford and Reading. Most of the pieces we will be working on are for the concert.
Please make a real effort to review these pieces and make sure you know them from memory (unless they say ‘from music’) – remember working on review pieces is just as important as learning new ones. Don’t worry if there are pieces in the list which you haven’t yet learnt. However, if you can playany of the pieces further on in the book than the ones scheduled for your group, you are welcome to stay on and play these with the next group up.
