Henfield Twenty/20 Cricket Cup Rules -2016

In preparing these rules competing clubs are reminded of the spirit of cricket. Our competition is primarily about participation and enjoyment of club cricket. Clubs participate by way of invitation from Henfield CC.

We may amend these rules at our discretion.

i)  Matches shall consist of a maximum of 20, 6 ball over’s for each side. Over’s may be reduced to a minimum of 10 each by agreement of the captains in the event of wet weather or poor light, providing an even number of overs are bowled (see rule viii.)

ii)  Bowlers may bowl up to four overs maximum but a minimum of five bowlers must always be required and used to complete the scheduled overs duration of an innings i.e. five bowlers must be used in a completed 10 over innings. Fielding restrictions do not apply.

iii)  The toss shall take place by 6 pm of the match day and shall be forfeited thereafter in the absence of either team at the match venue.

iv)  Weather permitting, match starts will be as soon as possible from 6 pm and shall commence no later than 6.15 pm regardless of whether either side awaits arrival of players. Delays and restrictions due to poor weather will be agreed at the discretion of the team captains.

The winners shall then be the side with the most runs at the midpoint of scheduled number of overs regardless of wickets lost. *

ix)  Matches where runs scored are tied shall be deemed won by the team who has lost least wickets. If these are the same the match shall be deemed tied and the points shared.

x)  Points will be awarded in the group stage as follows. 2pts for a win, 1 pt for a tie or abandonment, 0pts for a loss.

xi)  In the event of teams being tied on points at the end of the group phase positions will be established in order of net run rate

xii)  Match days during the designated match weeks will be agreed between the competing clubs the home teams preference being final in the event of disagreement.

xiii)  A) Players should have played a minimum of six matches for their club the previous season or B) if new membership is pending should have played at least two weekend matches for their club during the current season

* It becomes vital that scorers maintain over by over totals throughout each match!
