Hello one and all

Apologies for the late arrival of this email about our next Folklights @ The Lantern – now only some three weeks away on Thursday 29 October. Blame our late summer break to Lake Garda…

Hopefully you still have space for Folklights in your diary as we have a great evening lined up for you.

We’re really excited to be able to bring you The Paper Trains as our main act of the evening.

This three-piece string band is one of the most entertaining acts we’ve seen in a long time – lively, musically talented, inventive and distinctive.

You’ll be treated to great harmonies, self-penned Americana, incisive guitar licks, banjo picking, sure-footed bass lines and maybe even some honky-tonk piano.

The Paper Trains have played at some terrific venues – including the legendary Bluebird Café in Nashville and the Cavern Club in Liverpool – so we’re dead chuffed to have them coming to Romsey.

Our other guests, opening the evening, are MTM+.

Those of you with good memories may recall that MTM - Martin Heys, Tony Jeffries and Martin Kennard - were due to play for us last February but had to cry off for circumstances beyond their control.

Since then they have added Richard Crouch to the line-up –although they’ve yet to come up with a new name for the band, hence the + sign!.

All four have a long track record in the local area through groups such as Feckless, North Driveand Reavers Rant, as well as being long-time friends.

They play a variety of instruments (including fiddle, banjo, guitar, ukulele and harmonica) across a number of genres. There’ll be thoughtful songs, foot-tapping tunes, and plenty to enjoy.

As always the Folklights doors and bar at the Lantern Theatre, MountbattenSchool, Romsey will open at 7.30pm with the music getting under way at 8pm.

As those of you who came last night will know, our ticket price rises £1 and will now be £7 to reflect our increased costs but all profits will continue to be given in full to Romsey Opportunity Group. Last season raised £600 for them – all thanks to you!

We hope to see you on the 29th. If you're also able to spread the word to friends we'd be very grateful.

All the best

Pete & Ali
