Evaluation Session / Outline

Hello everyone! Welcome to take part in the Evaluation Session!

We’d like to know and share with you how you have experienced the teacher exchange week!

We shall be evaluating your experience (of host and guest teachers) togethr in four areas and rounds!

The evaluation session is for both guest and host teachers (if possible also student representatives)!

Round 1: Questions & Responses in Four Areas of Experience (10 min)

- We’ll ask you a few questions about your personal experience in four areas
relating to the teacher exchange week:

1. Information, Application & Organisation
2. Travelling, Accommodation/Hosting & Catering
3. Teaching Programme & Teaching Experience
4. Social Programme & General Experience

- Please respond to each question by means of the cards on the table.
There are three kinds of cards with different meanings:

Green Card: meaning “Ok” and “Yes”.
Yellow Card: meaning “I don’t know” and “There’s room for improvement.”
Red Card: meaning “Not ok” and “No”.

- Now, let’s proceed to the questions – please give your response:

- Did you come on time for the evalation session? [Programme given out on website :-)]

- Should the application period be earlier than this year (December-January)?

- Did you receive sufficient information before and during the week?

- Did you visit the Meetn’Greet Rooms?

- Are you pleased with the hotel or place you stayed at?

- Are you hungry/thirsty at the moment? [Gotta wait for the feedback brunch at 11.00]

- Did you look for Northern Lights during the week?

- How was your teaching experience?

- Are you pleased with the interaction with your contact teacher?

- Are you pleased with the interaction with the students in your teaching sessions?

- Will you come again or recommend the week to colleagues?

- Will you ask your colleagues to arrange such a week at your HEI?

-  Cards (green, yellow, red) on each table, for 40 people (ask Teija)

Round 2: Personal Evaluation of Experience in Four Areas (10 min)

- Let us know how you’ve personally experienced the teacher exchange week!

- We will ask you about your personal experience in four areas:

1. Information, Application & Organisation
2. Travelling, Accommodation/Hosting & Catering
3. Teaching Programme & Teaching Experience
4. Social Programme & General Experience

- Provide your personal evaluation in short statements about the things
that went well J and that didn’t go well, or that could be improved L

- Please walk around and write a short statement (one sentence per area of experience) on the evaluation posters laid out on tables 1 - 4!

Material:

-  Pencils

-  Tables 1 - 4

-  Tape

-  2 x 4 (A3) evaluation posters with areas and ratings mentioned

Round 3: Group Discussion & Evaluation of Experience in Four Areas (20 min)

- We’ll divide you now into four groups: Let’s count through: 1, 2, 3 & 4. Please go to the tables 1 - 4:

- Each group will deal with a particular area of experience:

1. Information, Application & Organisation
2. Travelling, Accommodation/Hosting & Catering
3. Teaching Programme & Teaching Experience
4. Social Programme & General Experience

- Each group shall discuss the individual experiences on the posters in its area of experience, and look for the main statements. The main statements will be presented in an overview in round 4 by means of the group’s Secretary and Presenter.

- Choose a Secretary (Host Teacher) marking/underlining the main statements during the group discussion and presenting the results to the general assembly in round 4.

- Choose a Presenter (Guest Teacher) who will present the main statements in an overview together with the secretary to the general assembly in round 4.

- The Secretary and Presenter should also give an overall description of the experience according to the group’s own area of experience, and by means of the following items:

3. Teaching Programme & Teaching Experience

Writing Tools: Pencil, Chalk, Red Marker, Keyboard

4. Social Programme & General Experience

Pictures: Angry Bird, Santa Claus, Milk Maid, Northern Lights

Which picture describes best the overall experience? Give reasons and explain briefly!

Material:

-  Tables numbered 1 - 4 and according to areas

-  2 x 4 (A3) evaluation posters with areas and ratings mentioned

-  Items as pictures or real items ;-)

Round 4: Group Presentation of Experiences by Secretary Presenter (20 min)

- Now we ask each group’s Secretary and Presenter to give their presentation of the area of experience they were looking at.

- First, please present the main statements for your area of experience!

- Second, please give an overall description of your group’s area of experience, and by means of the following items:
