Hello Blanketeers and Guild Members,

1014 – that is the number of quilts we have given away to date from when our chapter was formed in 2004. We are so proud of this chapter and the support and hugs given from each of our guild members.

The door prizes are coming in fast and furious for our May 1st meeting celebrating our Guild’s sponsorship of Project Linus. Please be sure to donate your quilt before May 1st so that we can have your name in the drawing for the prizes. Here is a sampling of the prizes to be given away to those members who have donated quilt or quilts to our Project Linus cupboard this year.

Our quilts have reached around the word from Japan, Haiti and to different areas of Unites States, including Texas, Louisiana and Vermont for natural disasters that have occurred. It is amazing that our chapter has been able to respond to each plea for quilts from Project Linus National Headquarters and that our hugs are being felt around the world now. We cannot express our appreciation enough to the generosity of the Guild and other community organizations for their generous contributions in keeping our cupboard full. You are all amazing.

Our inventory of our Project Linus Cupboard shows we are in need of boy quilts for ages 5 and under and quilts for teenagers. The quilt sizes for teenagers does not have to be twin size but a small lap size quilt (48” X 60” or larger) will be sufficient for teenagers. Other donations have been coming from all of the State of Maine to our chapter such as:

· State of Maine Eastern Star (Masons organization) donated over 70 quilts to our chapter. Last year their statewide organization took on this project when a Mason member was touched by our Chapter’s generosity when his grandson had passed away.

Our mission of providing comfort to children in need in our communities has not only inspired our guild members and other community members but also has touched others statewide. Thank you again for your hard work and generosity. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give Karen Gallop or Kim Hazlett a call or email.
