General

Mick Hobbs welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced the members of Xchanging that would be presenting the demonstration.

Mike Hicks gave a brief update of electronic placing in the London Market and stated that the Acord viewer had been developed within the required timescales as it would be required for the 2008 renewal season. He then handed over to Martin Eves to start the demonstration.

Martin Eves explained that he would create a broking placing message with attached associated documents in Brokasure and send them to an Iris client. This was completed and an acknowledgment sent back to Brokasure that the message had been received.

Mark Thompson explained that the message had been received via a web service and was now available for viewing in the Acord viewer. He stated that the message and associated documents could be viewed, archived or sent to the client’s document management system. He also explained that the messages were security protected using certificates and gave a brief overview of the technical aspects of the viewer.

Questions and Answers:

Q: How is the received message name defined?

A: The name is defined by the broker.

Q: Where are archive messages stored and are they auto archived/auto deleted?

A: The messages are stored in a local Access database. Messages are not auto archived or deleted but this could be included in the next phase of development if required by the IUG.

Q: Would the programme run on a dedicated PC and would a dedicated viewer also be required?

A: The actual programme would run on a dedicated PC, however, the viewer could be shared on other PCs as required.

Q: Is the programme Citrix deployable?

A: The programme should be compatible with Citrix, but this will be checked and confirmed.

Q: Will the programme receive messages in DRI format?

A: There are numerous forms of messages and the specification states that the DRI format is out of scope. Xchanging will discuss this at the next ACORD sub committee meeting to ascertain which message formats are required.

Q: What type of web server does the product require?

A: The software has been written using Microsoft .net technology which currently requires IIS to be used as the web server.

Q: Which versions of IRIS will the product support?

A: The product is not dependent on IRIS and can be used as a stand alone product. It can also be linked to IRIS or other operating systems.

Q: When will the IUG be able to take and install the product?

A: There is still some testing and other work being carried out. If members would like to get started with the product quickly they are welcome to take it as a V1 product and provide feedback to Xchanging.

Q: How will the product be funded?

A: The development of the product has been funded by the IUG. A third party software (Web Connectivity) is also required and will be chargeable. Xchanging are currently in negotiation with Web Connectivity to obtain favourable costs.

Q: Will there be a licence fee to use the programme?

A: For members of the IUG there will be no licence fee. However, if non-IUG members decide to take the product there will be a licence fee payable. Charges for support and maintenance are still being decided.

Q: Can screen shots of the functionality be provided?

A: Yes, screen shots will be emailed to attendees.

Q: Is it possible to see the demo again?

A: Yes, if you would like a further demonstration for either you or colleagues please let us know.

Actions:

A further ACORD sub committee meeting will be scheduled ASAP to discuss matters/actions arising from the demonstration.
