Heart Rate and Breathing Rate

by Kermit Gauthreaux & Kenneth B. Sebren

Louisiana Curriculum Framework Content Strand: / Science as Inquiry, Life Science, Data Analysis, Probability, and Discrete Math, English Language Arts / Grade
Level / 9-12
Objectives: The students will be able to:
Use a heart rate monitor and TI-83 Plus Graphing Calculator/CBL System to collect data dealing with heart rate and breathing/self-induced partial asphyxiation (holding your breath) and use the results of this investigation to construct a graph to be used for interpretation to determine a relationship between heart rate and breathing/self-induced partial asphyxiation (holding your breath).
