HOME: Achieving within Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport (PEPAS)
Working together with your child at home is a very valuable part of this topic. Below we have given you some simple ideas to experience in your family.
1 Buddy Up: Everything is more fun if you share the experience with a friend or family member. Try a new sport or activity with your family buddy. You might like to take up sprinting or wonder if you would be any good at badminton. Choose something that interests you. Try out these new skills with your buddy and be prepared to give and get feedback about the new skills you are both trying to develop.
2 Have a get together with a bunch of kids. Plan ahead for this with someone at home and come up with 3 creative play ideas for you and your pals. Keep it simple like ‘Follow the Leader’ on your scooter. Try these ideas out and be able to talk about the fun you had. Attempt some new moves or skills and report back in terms of how you felt you performed. Was it your personal best?
3 Being physically fit keeps your body working the way it should. Playing, dancing, doing sport or even cleaning your room in an enthusiastic fashion works your muscles and keeps you strong. So attempt to climb a steep hill, play jump ropes, ride your bike, go swim some laps or even do the hula-hoop. Enjoy something fun and get a parent or guardian to time you doing your 3 favourite activities. Make a chart to plot your achievements.
