Knowledge
- A general understanding of health and social care services, and the structure of NHS and social care
- An appreciation of the social, political and economic trends influencing them

- An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of a Director; willing to be held to account for Board performance and decisions
Experience
- Experience of working with partners / networks (essential for Vice-Chair only)
- Experience of at least one of the following:
- NHS providers – ideally hospital and/or GP
- Health and/or social care commissioning
- Mental health, learning disability, dementia, autism
- Adult social care, including care at home and care homes
- Safeguarding
- Children / young people and their needs and interactions with health and care services
- Informal care
- Experience of at least two of the following:
- The involvement of people who use services in the design and planning of health or care services, public engagement or consultation
- Communications: traditional (publications, reports, leaflets) and/or digital (social media, websites), and/or PER and news
- Speaking in public, representation to stakeholders public and/and professional
- Being on a Board or management committee
- Fundraising
- HR
- Governance (essential for the Governance role)
- The law as it affects an organisation like Healthwatch Hampshire (essential for the Governance role)
- Self-motivated, willing and able to give required time and energy to Healthwatch Hampshire
