2016 EXEMPLARY PRACTICE AWARD

CALL FOR PROGRAMS

The AFC Healthcare Education Commission is pleased to sponsor the Exemplary Practice Award. The commission recognizes outstanding programs and professionals in the field of healthcare education and invites each college to showcase its best programs.

We ask you to take a few minutes to think about the programs currently in place at your college that affect Healthcare students. Any program that impacts these students is eligible.

If selected as a finalist, a spokesperson or persons will present the program to the judges at the AFC Region III Conference on April 29th at Lake-Sumter State College, South Lake Campus. Presenters will be given 5 minutes to setup, 20 minutes to present and 5 minutes for a question/answer session. The winning presentation will also be presented at the AFC Annual Meeting and Conference in the fall. All expenses and fees, including registration, will be the responsibility of the presenter.

The winning presenter will receive $500.00 to be awarded at the AFC 2016 Annual Meeting and Conference at Buena Vista Palace in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Presentations are judged on the following criteria:

  1. Innovation – Is the program a new approach to an existing problem or something new? What need does this program meet that wasn’t being met? Are the objectives measurable?
  2. Impact- Does the program involved healthcare education? Is the program feasible (cost, sustainability, & transferability)? Was additional institutional involvement in the development/maintenance of the program?
  3. Evaluation- Have any evaluations occurred? What was the process for evaluation? Has the program been changed, revised or improved as a result of evaluations?
  4. Presentation- How organized and professional was presentation? Was the presentation style effective? Was the audience engaged in a professional manner? Did presenters stay within the 20-minute time limit?
