GRADING POLICY:
Your course grade will be calculated on a point system. Each assignment will be worth a stated number of points. At the end of the grading period, the total number of points that could have been earned will be divided by the total of your accumulated points to determine your quarter grade. For example, if there were a possible 800 points for the marking period and a student earned 750 points, the students grade would be 94 (750/800= 94).
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You are expected to come to class prepared to work each day. This means you must come with a pen and/or pencil, your binder, and any other materials, as requested by the teacher, needed to complete the expected tasks that day.
- Organization is an essential life skill. To develop and demonstrate organizational skills, you will be required to maintain an organized binder with two dividers. The binder will be graded on the completeness and organization of the course materials and your work.
- Attendance in school is related to student success. Absence from class will impact your class participation grade.
- In case of a class absence, you are responsible for getting and making up assignments and tests promptly.
- Effective time management is another very important life skill. To reinforce this concept, homework must be complete and on time to be eligible for full credit. Assignments handed in by the next class day will receive half credit. Any assignment handed in after that time will not receive credit, but should still be completed so as not to jeopardize the notebook grade and to develop skills needed for final evaluations.
- You are expected to be in your seat and prepared to work when the period begins. If you are late or unprepared, you will lose points from your daily class participation grade.
- Students will be assigned lunch detention after the third unexcused late to class.
- It is expected that you will be respectful and courteous to others, even when their position may differ from yours.
- Behavior that interferes with the teaching process will result in immediate action in order to minimize the amount of time lost to the learning process. 1st offense - warning, 2nd offense – seat changed, 3rd offense – removal from classroom & lunch detention, additional offenses – referral to the assistant principal.
