Keynote Speakers

Ms Kate Carnell – Chief Executive Officer, Australian Division of General Practice (ADGP)

Ms Carnell is a pharmacist, who has an extensive background in health.

Ms Carnell was Chief Minister for the ACT from 1995 to 2000 and held numerous ministerial positions. In her capacity as Minister for Health and Community Care, Ms Carnell's Government oversaw many reforms to achieve improved health outcomes, and implemented Australia's first integrated health care information system. Ms Carnell was also vice president of the Pharmacy Guild and is the first woman to be awarded life membership of the Guild. Ms Carnell was appointed CEO of the ADGP in August 2004.

Dr Ian Reinecke- Chief Executive Officer, National eHealth Transition Authority (NEHTA)

Dr Reinecke has a broad range of experience in managing change within organisations. Dr Reinecke was CIO of the Sydney 2000 Olympics and has consulted widely to industry, universities and governments in the strategic use of ICT. He has conducted major reviews of ICT in the public sector at federal and state level, in universities and in the private sector.

Dr Reinecke is a former Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Queensland and Director of the Centre for Information Technology Research at the University of Wollongong. He has chaired or been a member of government boards with responsibility for ICT strategic matters in Queensland, NSW and the Commonwealth. He is also a former chair of DSTC Pty Ltd, the ICT Cooperative Research Centre.

Dr Brian Richards- National Director, e-Health Implementation, HealthConnect, Department of Health & Ageing

Previously holding the position of Chief Information Officer at the Health Insurance Commission, a GP within private practice who was involved in inaugurating the General Practice Computing Group and now National Director, e-Health Implementation at HealthConnect, Dr Richards has been at the forefront of developing information management strategies and infrastructure for programs such as the development of public key infrastructure, HIC’s e-business and other e-health reforms. Dr Richards is an advisor to the National e-Health Transition Authority and was previously a member of the National Electronic Health Records Taskforce.

Mr Tony Bibby- Manager, Patient Client Management Systems, Department of Human Services, Victoria

Tony Bibby graduated a long time ago with an Associate Diploma in Medical Record Administration, which was later upgraded to a degree, and additionally has a Grad Dip in Health Administration and an MBA. He spent approximately 10 years in varying roles in medical record departments, then became IT Director at Austin for 6 years after which he joined Deloitte Consulting in Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and Bangkok. During, and since then, he has worked with three major PAS software vendors, namely Hospital 2000, iSOFT and TrakHealth. He is currently Portfolio Manager for the replacement of PAS and Primary and Community software across Victoria.

Mr Robert McHenry, Executive Officer, G21

G21 is an organisation that delivers community benefit projects right across the region that incorporates the municipalities of Colac Otway, Geelong, Golden Plains, Surf Coast and Queenscliffe. It involves the participation of around 100 regional organisations including Barwon Water, Victoria Police, Committee for Geelong, CSIRO, the Local Learning and Employment Network, Gordon TAFE and Barwon Health and is funded by the five regional municipalities and the State Government. HIMAA are please to announce Mr McHenry as a key speaker at this year’s conference.
