The first section of the test will be multiple choice. You will need to know the definitions of several of the terms listed below, as well as being able to provide examples of, or explain the significance of, many of the terms listed below. You will also need to know the answers to the questions listed below. Most of these merely require a listing of items, but some require a more in-depth explanation. I recommend working with other students in class to test your knowledge of the terms and the importance/examples of them and to answer the questions.

The second section of the test will be the essay section. Mr. Terpstra will select one of the questions listed below for your essay question. Answer the question in paragraph form including details and definitions of relevant terms. Be sure to answer all parts of the question. I would suggest writing out the answers to each question in advance to help you prepare for the test.

  1. Identify two people, ideas, or events that helped to set off the Spanish-American War and explain the role they played.
  1. What new weapons and technologies made fighting World War I deadlier than previous wars?
  1. What major effects did the Versailles Treaty have on Europe as a whole, both positive and negative?
