  1. Communication Skills: Graduates of the HCM Program will demonstrate proficiency in oral and written communication.
/ Graduating students will receive a mean score of 70% in oral and written communications and projects in all HCM courses. / A survey of preceptors and/or employers of our graduates will evaluate the oral and written communication skills of our graduates.
  1. Critical Thinking Skills: Graduates will demonstrate the ability to use critical and strategic thinking in analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating various types of cases, reports and research publications in addressing issues in health care management.
/ Students will earn a “C” or better grade on: coursework and assigned learning activities that call for written and oral arguments addressing contemporary health care issues and problems, an exercise that calls for analyzing, and synthesizing information for effective problem solving and on critical evaluation of a research publications. / Feedback from preceptor and/or employer surveys will confirm that students and graduates demonstrate critical and strategic thinking skills.
  1. Specific Content Knowledge: Graduates will demonstrate an understanding of knowledge, concepts and skills related to health care management.
/ Students will earn a grade of “C” or higher in all required upper division courses utilizing case studies, capstone projects, examinations, tests and assignments. Students will earn a grade of “B” or higher for the administrative internship experience utilizing preceptors’ evaluations and projects. / Using an appropriate rubric, a panel of faculty members will evaluate students knowledge in key areas. Surveyed preceptors will indicate that students have content knowledge appropriate to the internship experience.
  1. Professional and Career Advancement: Graduates will demonstrate the ability to work in teams and independently in a variety of professional environments and pursue opportunities for career advancement.
/ Graduating students responding to a survey will indicate that they are seeking entry into graduate school in a related discipline. Graduating students responding to a survey will indicate that they serve in an entry-level managerial and administrative position that require leadership skills. / Alumni survey will indicate the degree to which graduates are involved in professional associations and societies. Alumni survey will indicate career advancement.
  1. Technology Literacy: Graduates will demonstrate proficiency in the use of presentation, spreadsheet programs and advanced word processing technologies.
/ Students will earn a grade of “C” or higher in all required upper division course material that incorporates case studies, capstone projects, examinations, tests and assignments utilizing Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word, and other software programs. Students will earn a grade of “B” or higher for the administrative internship experiences based on preceptors’ evaluations of projects applying Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word, and other software programs. / Surveyed preceptors will indicate that students have demonstrated technological literacy appropriate to the internship experience.
