  • Fit Kids 360 has been postponed until January

b. Natalie Tavernier, YMCA

  • Swimsuit drive: donate new or used swimsuits, goggles, and swim equipment
  • The Edison Lakes Location is open; passes are available to tour the facility
  • Offering diabetes prevention classes (small fee); bilingual coaches are available

c. Angie Skwarcan, Early Learning Indiana

  • Indiana is 1 of 9 states without state-funded preschool
  • More information to come about contacting legislators

d. Andrea, St. Joseph Health Systems

  • Free diabetes prevention program, including in Spanish, is available
  • Next class in January

e. Jim Baxter, Covering Kids and Families

  • Outreach to 20,000 people without health insurance (open ACA enrollment 11/1/16)

f. Sondra Gardetto, St. Joseph Health Systems insurance services

  • October education sessions are available in preparation for 11/1/16open ACA enrollment [will give posters to Robin to pass out]

g. Kristyn Quimby, Community Health, College of Health Sciences

  • Project Hope (formerly known as Access to Care Day, a dental care event) has been rebranded and will include more wellness activities in addition to dental care
  • Also offering health outreach prevention education starting in the spring/late March

g. Sue Taylor, Early Childhood Services, Memorial + EnFocus partnership

  • Project focusing on pregnant women with diabetes (including WIC nutrition classes)
  • Health Points Mobile App for women who have gestational diabetes
  • DASH program
  • Focus on WIC-eligible Dads with younger children; breastfeeding

  • PCORI research grant with EnFocus
  • Grant will aid sickle cell pediatrics transition into adult care

  • Looking for referrals of at-risk moms, pre-natal to 3 months, especially via WIC, hospitals, and doctor’s offices

  • Looking for resources and programs to support/refer ex-offenders and reduce recidivism

q. Michelle Peters, SJRMC

  • New mobile medical unit with 3D technology is available at the end of October, which is breast cancer awareness month:
  • Offering mammograms, including to people who have no insurance
  • Visit the SJRMC website for more information
  • 11/5: Health fair with free flu shots, Greater St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church
  • Free flu shots at multiple locations; leftovers will be sent to the health department
  • SHIP counselors are available for ACA open enrollment 11/1/16
