The Headteacher and Governors of St. Jude’s Church of England Primary School are looking to appoint an ambitious and inspirational teacher with experience of Special Educational Needs. Candidates should be willing to obtain the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination within three years of appointment. This is an exceptional middle leadership opportunity.

We are a ‘Good’ school on its way to outstanding. Our recent Ofsted inspection in October 2014 states

‘The school uses teaching assistants to good effect in lessons to help pupils of all abilities. They support disabled pupils, those with special educational needs or those at the early stages of learning English well.’

‘Disabled pupils and those with special educational needs generally make similar progress to other children. This is due to the close attention that the school places on ensuring all pupils have an equal opportunity to succeed.’

‘The behaviour of pupils is good. Pupils are polite, courteous and respectful towards each other and talk and play sensibly together.

We are looking to appoint a teacher who:

  • Is an excellent practitioner with SENCO experience or, has the vision, energy and enthusiasm to take on this role
  • has high expectations, understands and promotes the principles of inclusion
  • is ambitious for themselves and their pupils
  • is experienced in maximising progress and achieving high standards
  • has the knowledge and skills to successfully plan and implement focusedintervention strategies
  • has excellent interpersonal skills, working effectively with the staff team, parents and outside agencies
  • can line manage and deploy support staff effectively
