NEWSLETTER – 11th September 2015

WELCOME BACK EVERYONE!

I hope you have had a lovely summer break. It has been a great first week back - we would like to give our new pupils a big thumbs up for the fantastic start they have made this week. We have some photos to share with you on the school website - address as above.

I am sure you will have seen or heard of the changes to our school and grounds that have taken place this summer. We now have a very flat and well-drained field, a wonderful new gazebo/outdoor classroom and scooter track. Mr Cornthwaite and Mr Lee have spent the summer working hard and have done a fantastic job as I am sure you will agree; many thanks to them. We look forward to being able to play many inter-school matches on home turf now! We have also had Classes 1 and 3 painted – thank you to Transform Cleaning for their excellent work. Mrs Smith now has a huge new cupboard which will make her life a lot easier- thank you to our super carpenters.

If the PSFA and the whole school community hadn’t worked so hard on raising money for the project we could never have achieved what we have so a huge thank you to those volunteers who have worked so hard and to all of you who have ever bought a cake, a tea-towel, Christmas card etc!! We would like to encourage all our new parents, family members and may be old parents who have a little spare time to join the PSFA this year and help out with a few events. The money raised helps with many other annual school events which would otherwise be too expensive such as coaches for school trips (including Tower Wood) and the whole school pantomime visit at Christmas. The more people who help the less each individual has to do. There are many ways to help - to find out use Facebook ‘Nateby School Parents and Staff’; talk to Mrs Houghton or other school staff or just come to The Tithebarn September 22nd at 7.45pm for the first meeting of the new school year- it’s also a good way to meet new friends and socialise.

Along with school improvement funds our playground project was also possible due to a very kind donation from The Parish Council and from Grantscape which we are very grateful for. Grantscape Orchard End Community Benefit Fund manages a fund of £16000 annually for community projects within 3 miles of the Eagland Hill wind turbines. Applications for this fund can be submitted twice a year. For more information go to:

DATA COLLECTION SHEET

All children will be bringing home a Data Collection Sheet. Please can you check this carefully to ensure that all contact details are correct and up-to-date. Please return to the school office as soon as possible. Thank you.

SCHOOL GAMES

We begin the year as we mean to go on with a Football Tournament at Kirkland and Catterall St Helens on 30th September. The team should already have had their letters. Any parents that could help with transport etc please indicate so on the reply slip.

Our inter-house tournaments are also starting in the next few weeks with Years 2-6 competing in Badminton matches. Good luck to them all but having a go and enjoying the games is really what it’s all about. Events will include all age groups in school where appropriate.

The Juniors will be asked if they would like to be a member of our Sports Crew in the next week. This is a commitment to helping organising events, may be blogging about them on the Sainsburys School Games website: http://www.yourschoolgames.com; or taking photographs of the action. Please encourage your child to get involved.

Have a lovely Weekend
