Planning and updates / Canadian Breastfeeding Week –
  • Facebook posts did well, Natalie posting regularly (last night’s breastfeeding story and picture (from WBW) post reached over 500); plan to post more photos taken during Breastfeeding Week along with mother’s story
  • Plan to have photos taken in Halton hospitals. OTMH on hold for now as they cannot post on walls for 6 months.
  • Infographics would be a great way to promote breastfeeding

Community Policy Distribution/ Breastfeeding in Public Spaces
  • Packages made up to distribute at a community event where doctors’ offices attended – For physicians, packages contain WHO growth charts, Community Policy, BF in Public Spaces, HBFI Community Supports, along with a cover letter
  • There are also packages for businesses with same contents minus growth charts and cover letter.
  • Amy contacted Metroland – planning to speak with someone who does editorials for City Parent and local papers
/ Packages available for anyone who wants to distribute them.

Website Changes
  • Reviewed proposed website menu changes (see document)
  • All breastfeeding information has been moved to HaltonParents – need to create a news article when HBFI website switches to new version
  • Add link to HaltonParents breastfeeding pages throughout HBFI website where appropriate
  • Conflict of Interest changes discussed and added to Terms of Reference. This will be updated on website now and incorporated into website changes
  • Workgroup for content changes created – Caitlin, Natalie, Anna and Susan
  • Will need website host to make menu changes once content is ready

  • Anna spoke with Heather – she has contacted Catherine Porter, Toronto Star reporter to make contact with Sayed re being a guest speaker at showing of film
  • Think about potential sponsors – need to be Code compliant

  • Susan has stepped down from Website and Paypal Coordinator as of December 31
  • Lori transitioning into Treasurer position
  • Now open: Secretary, Website and Paypal Coordinator – have been posted on Volunteer Halton
  • Suggestion to add HBFI to volunteer opportunities on halton.ca

Immunization Event
  • Some of the software doctors are using in their offices for documentation are using the WHO growth charts
  • A number of local physicians are aware of importance of using WHO growth charts

Update for Halton Healthcare
  • Had first BFI Committee meeting in June – have several doctors on committee.
  • Plan is to review BFI policy, status of 10 steps, hope to meet again in January.
  • Barb advocating for skin-to-skin after C sections.

Update for Joseph Brant Hospital
  • Sue reported that they have submitted documents to receive BFI Certificate of Participation.

Update from Health Department
  • Obtained feedback on Three Ways to Succeed poster.
  • Consider creating an Infographic along the same lines.

Other business / Meeting days in 2016
  • Some members are unable to attend on Thursdays (some unable to attend on Wednesdays too)
  • Consider alternating days from month to month
