MEETING MINUTES

Minutes of March 8, 2014 – approved.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT

·  TENTS.

o  USASA matched 50% for purchase of 12 tents; 4 table covers; and 20 flags.

o  HSA and all leagues can use.

o  Stored in WISA storage. MISO used 2 tents, labeled #9 & #10.

o  When leagues use, they are responsible for them. Let HSA know if they break.

o  Total cost was $10,000 & USASA paid $5,000.

·  FORMS

o  Travel Team Support:

§  HSA will pay $500 for HSA team going to USASA or FIFA sanctioned tournament.

§  50% of teams’ roster must be registered with HSA (at $25 level)

§  Request must be submitted in writing to HSA and submit copy of their team roster.

o  Request for Financial Support

§  Must submit request in writing before expense incurred.

§  Form will be on website.

§  If for training – open training up to all other leagues.

o  Defibrillators

§  Need to be maintained & tested by each League.

§  Pads need to be replaced every 2 years

§  Batteries need to be replaced every 5 years

§  HSA will cover the above expenses - make sure to make the written request before expense incurred.

§  Gwen has contact for purchasing Defibrillators and for training.

§  Go through Gwen to arrange purchase and training re: defibrillators.

TREASURER’S REPORT

§  Total funds: $130,552.02.

§  Net decrease in funds due to purchase of tents.

§  USASA grant balance of $2,000. Will transfer this to HSA accounts.

§  Jack will become assistant treasurer and Carrie Nelson will become treasurer.

§  The HSA Board thanks Jack for his many years of service!

REGISTRAR’S REPORT

§  Starting in Fall 2014 each league will have to have its own registrar and will be responsible for registering its own players.

§  Need list of teams and team reps by JULY 31, 2014 to Gwen.

§  Need to provide Fall start date for each league.

§  Need minimum 30 days notice before leagues start.

§  All payments must be paid on-line.

§  All players must provide phone number and email address. If player doesn’t have email address, then they can use the team reps’ email.

§  Gwen will print players passes this year. Next year, each league may need to print their own player passes.

COMMITTEE and AFFILIATE LEAGUE REPORTS

HYSA

§  Membership growth. 6,249 as of May 2014.

§  4 teams traveling to Pres. Cup

§  16 teams traveling to Regionals

§  ODP had over 50 boys & girls select to Region camp

§  5 girls selected to attend National ID camp

§  4 tournaments this Summer. 1 on Maui; 3 on Oahu

§  Frank is willing to promote all tournaments on his website – Soccerhawaii.com.

§  HYSA website is hawaiisoccer.com.

§  HYSA has been mentoring referees, and has achieved good results.

REFEREES

§  552 referees. About ½ of these are youth referees.

§  2 refs will be sent to Vets Cup

§  Some refs being sent to Regional tournaments

§  Training of refs ongoing

§  2014-2015: goal of national ref program is to have only grade 7 center referees. Grade 7 training and test is only on-line. No other requirements.

§  Started a mentor system in youth leagues.

§  Trainer from mainland will be here in August.

MAUI

§  Working on 7 on 7 co-ed league

§  Will make request for small goals

§  Parks director on Administrative leave. Deputy Director has been receptive.

§  War Memorial field will be redone

§  Co-ed league in Fall.

RANGER

§  24 teams

CO-ED

§  Not sure how many teams at this point. Haven’t played in almost a year.

§  Ala Wai should open in late Fall or Jan. 2015.

7-a-SIDE

§  Manager of Ala Wai project said lights were to go up in late June. Then wait 90 days to see if any problems. There are irrigation problems. Field restoration can take 3 or more months.

§  Have permits at Lanikila.

WISA

§  42 teams, but only time slots for 40 teams.

§  Scrimmages for unmatched players

§  WISA tournament on Aug 9 &10.

§  Food drive – 650 lbs. of food collected

§  2 teams going to Vets Cup

§  New ref assignor. The Daltons.

§  Request for assessments and/or mentors. Question about compensation.

TOURNAMENTS

§  Royal Hawaiian – outside teams have not signed up.
Hand out to MISO and WISA. Join up to make a team in open division?

§  May ask for goals

MISO

§  Used stadium for league final

UH Wahine soccer has an impressive schedule this Fall.
