January 25th Bag of the Month Class
Have It All Wallet
We're starting off the new year with a wallet instead of a purse or tote. Doesn't that sound fun and different? Come join us for a fun afternoon or evening. Here’s the information on how to get ready for class. We always have a "bit" of homework to do before class just so we have more time to sew! Stop by the shop and see the one I made. I’ll have to admit I made a mistake (that’s how I learn to help y’all) and covered it up with a cute little pink bow. It was either that or start over, and oh no, that wasn’t going to happen!
Before class please….
Purchase:
____ Have It All Wallet pattern
____ ½ yard or 1 fat quarter of fabric A outer wallet and inside lining of wallet
____ ½ yard fabric B for interior pockets
____ 5” x 5” scrap fabric C if you want to make the outer bow as shown on the pattern
(not my cover the mistake bow)
____ ½ yard of 20” wide lightweight fusible Pellon SF-101 – we have this at the shop
____ 1 piece – at least 7” x 13” firm, 1 sided fusible Peltex type (firm) interfacing
____ 1 coordinating regular coil zipper 7” long or longer (not metal)
____ 1 – either sew-in or set-in snap or magnetic snap, either the brad style or sew-in
(we have the magnetic snaps at the shop)
Cut:
____ Cut out the paper pattern pieces 1-6. Cut out # 7 if you’d like the outer bow.Cut out the triangle shapes that are marked on the pattern pieces. You will need to cut them out of the fabrics as you’re cutting them as well. This is one of the important steps in this process.
From Fabric A
____ Pattern piece # 6 Cut 2 on fold– just cut the rectangle out, not along the curved choices at the top.
____ Pattern piece # 5 – Cut 1 on fold
From Fabric B
____ Pattern piece #1 – cut 1 – it will show on either side of the zipper
____ Pattern piece #2 – cut 2 on fold – I made a copy of this piece so I could cut it out
away from pattern piece #3. I guess to save room they put this one inside the
other.
____ Pattern piece #3 –cut 1 on fold
____ Pattern piece # 4 – cut 1 on fold
From lightweight interfacing – Pellon SF-101
Cut 1 of each of these pattern pieces
____ #5
____ #6
You will also need the following cut from the Pellon SF-101
____ 2 strips – 6 ¾” long x 1” wide
____ 3 strips – 8 ¼” long x 1 ¼” wide
____ 1 rectangle 6 ¾” x 7 ¾”
From 1 sided fusible Peltex type (firm) interfacing
____ Cut 1 of pattern piece #6
Ok if you have all that done then you’re ready! We’ll iron all those fusible pieces on in class. No worries!!
Let me know if you have any questions.
