2016-2017NHS Requirements:

Be in grades 10-12.

-Have a cumulative GPA of 93 or higher.

-Be enrolled in coursework in preparation for a 4 year college or university.

-Participate in service oriented projects in school (15 hours) and the community (10 hours).

-Character: Remain in good standing with no behavior referrals or discipline-related problems.

-Dues: $25

Meetings (includes induction): You may miss no more than three unexcused meetings. Excuses must be given to Mrs. Crapse or the secretary for your grade. The only exception to this is homebound or dual-enrolled students.

*2nd Tuesday of each month or Thursday if there is a holiday on that Tuesday – 8:00AM or immediately after school in the chorus room/cafeteria

Tuesday October 25 – INDUCTION CEREMONY – New members inducted/Returning members set up and clean up

Community Service Deadline: April 28, 2017

The community service form is available on Mrs. Crapse’s web page, and we’ll have some at our meetings. You may include service hours from June 2016 through April 2017 including participation in International Food Night for Relay for Life.

Dues: $25.00 – Turn in dues to Mrs. Burrell in room 215. We’ll announce at the meeting what times you can turn your money in to her.

Returning members: Due no later than Thursday 9/29/16

New members: Due no later than Tuesday 10/18/16

  • Make checks payable to SEHS
  • NHS dues in the memo line
  • Make sure the check is written in black or blue ink and a phone number is listed.
  • New members must pay prior to induction

NHS’s primary community service project/fundraiser is INTERNATIONAL FOOD NIGHT FOR RELAY FOR LIFE.All members MUST participate. If a member has a valid excuse for not attending, he or she must still contribute a food item or help in some other capacity approved by the advisers/officers.

Other community service projects such as contributing to or helping with pre-k and elementary classes (school/food/fun items collected for needy), canned food collections, etc. are voluntary. All participation is considered for senior NHS scholarships and each opportunity gives members community service hours.
