Multigenre Paper
Hate is Not Conquered by Hate: Hate is Conquered by Love.
-Buddha
A multigenre paper is different from a normal essay that you would usually write. Instead of writing an essay you will be writing in five different genres to create a 5-7 page paper. Out of the five genres you get to choose three. The other two are mandatory genres that you must complete: a business letter or letter of complaint and a journal entry from the perspective of Romeo or Juliet. In addition to all of this you must have an introduction page and a note page at the end of your multigenre paper. In order to complete the genres there must be a theme in each. We have discussed these themes in class: bullying, hate/war, love, impulsiveness, loyalty, and consequences. You must choose at least three themes for your five genres. Below in the table is an approved list of other genres that you may use.
Here is what you must have in your multigenre paper:
Introduction Page- tells me why you have chosen the certain themes from the play to be in your multigenre paper. You also need to tell me what each of the themes means and how it affects The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. This introduction should be a page in length.
Business Letter or Letter of Complaint
Journal Entry
3 other genres:
*Advertisement / Cartoon / Epilogue / PrologueAllegory / Dialogue / Feature Article / Short Story
Autobiography / Editorial / *Haiku / Sonnets
Biographical Profile / Email / Memoir / Two-Voice Poem
Biopoem / Encyclopedic Entry / News Article / +Soundtrack (12 songs)
Folk Story / Reader Response / Free Verse Poetry / *Graffiti
A note page- the note page should be at least a page and a half in length explaining the inspiration for each of the pieces in the paper.
*This means that you must have a half page explanation telling me what it means.+This means that you must create the CD pamphlet and choose songs that you believe go with Romeo and Juliet with an explanation (3+ sentences each) of why each song was chosen.
