Harvard Parks and Recreation Commission

Meeting Notes – March 3, 2014

Old Library/Center on the Common 7PM

  1. Meeting Notes Approval – 2/3 All

-Motion to approve. Approved by all.

  1. Ultimate Frisbee – Bromfield Club/FieldDonnie/BJ

-Donnie went to see Pam Alexander at Bromfield. Pam stated that Ultimate is not recognized as a club at the school. Pat recommended that Donnie go in and meet with Jim O’Shea to learn about what the process is to become a club. He has emailed Jim and has not heard back. If he does not hear back from Jim, Pat recommended going to the Superintedent. At this point, Upper Depot is going to be the best option. The later in the day (5-7pm) the worse the time slot. Right after school (around 3 – 3:30) is best. Donnie is also amenable to splitting Upper Depot in half.

  1. Boat Mooring donation – HST Gala Silent AuctionAll

-Motion made that Parks and Rec will donate 3 beach parking stickers at a value of $40 each. Motion unanimously approved.

  1. Beach Director Posting – StatusAnne/BJ

-Posting will be done tomorrow once Anne adds verbiage from BJ. Will have the job posted for the next three weeks. We are looking to fill the position by our meeting on April 7. The Director for Summer 2014 will be in charge of interviewing and hiring guards. Not all guards are going to be rehired this year. Anne will email all of last year’s guards once Ali sends their email addresses to let them know of the change in policy. The Park and Rec Director in Lancaster would like to know if we are planning to have the Red Cross out to train our guards, and if so, she would like to have her guards attend as well. Joe would like an itemized list of what expenses we can foresee for the beach this summer.

  1. Canoe/Kayak/Boat Lottery – StatusAnne

-Lottery completed by using Excel randomizer. Notifications will be sent out tomorrow.

  1. Trailer Parking Project StatusJoe
  2. Boat Checkers – when do we hire them?BJ
