HARRIET LUCENA WILLIAMS

1858 – 1921

Harriet Lucena, Abigail Celenty Lewis and Andrew Bokman Williams daughter, was born 12 Sep 1858 at Spanish Fork, Utah, UT. 1860 census finds the Andrew & Abigail Williams family at FortBridger, Green River, Utah Territory.

1870 census Harriet age 11, her brother William age 18, and her Great-Uncle David & Mary Gibson Lewis’ son PhilipLewis age 13 were all three living with her Aunt Julia (Williams) & Alanson Norton at Brigham City, Box Elder, UT. Philip Lewis’ mother, Mary Gibson had died in 1863.

February 24, 1873, about 14 ½ years old, Harriet married Eathen Freeman Cutler at Brigham City, Box Elder, UT. Their 1st child was born on January 8, 1875 Abigail Cutler was born and she lived until 14 August 1875, 8 months and 6 days.

2nd child, Eathen Freeman Cutler was born 1877 at Brigham City, Box Elder, UT. He chose Ida Ella Lish to be his bride on 24th November 1897 at Logan, Cache, UT. Ethan & Ida had 15 children, the 7th one being a daughter named Vivian Ephraim Cutler born October 4, 1904 at Onyx, Bannock, ID. Vivian died 12 Dec 1971.

3rd child, Mahala Estella “Stella” Cutler was born November 8, 1884 in Franklin, Franklin, ID. She married Walter R. Romriell on January 17, 1900 at the age of 16.

4th child, Sarah Lucena Cutler was born 19 Sep 1888 at Brigham City, Box Elder, UT. September 1, 1902 Sarah married Edwin Alphonso Lish at the age of a few days short of being 16 years old. She died January 27, 1919 and is buried at InkomCemetery, Inkom, Bannock, ID. I have not researched their children.

5th child, Emma Iona Cutler was born 23 April 1891 and died in 1891. The records show she was born in Albion, Cassia, ID, died in Albion and buried in Albion. I have found nothing to substantiate this information.

H/H Alanson, Julia Norton; 2 sons, Charles & Lemuel; and Andrew Williams, Julia’s father are line 94-98. H/H Ethan Cutler, Harriet L born Sep 1858, age 41, married 28 yrs, 5 children born, 3 living. (Sarah, single; Stella married to Walter Romiell; and Freeman Cutler married to Ida E. (Lish) with 2 children, Melvin & Ella R, all living in the H/H – 9 people total).

ROXY “ LUCY” WILLIAMS

1862 – 1904

Lucy, Abigail Celenty Lewis and Andrew Bokman Williams daughter, married Isaac Smith Potter June 4, 1880. The 1900 census, Albion, Cassia, ID. Isaac S Potter is H/H. Lucy was born Dec 1862, 37 years old, married for 20 years. To this union there were 9 children born, 8 living. Lucy’s brother, Lemuel L. Williams, an Invalid, born Mar 1842, age 58 and a widower was living in the household along with 7 of Isaac & Lucy’s 8 living children.

Lucy & Isaac had a total of 11 children, the youngest one, Roxy Reida Potter was born January 27, 1904. Lucy died January 27, 1904 at Lava Hot Springs, Bannock, ID. She is buried at NortonCemetery, McCammon Bannock, ID, Plot 261-133 F3. Gravestone Inscription:

LUCY WIFE OF I.S. POTTER

BORN DEC 22, 1862, DIED JAN 27, 1904.

You are not forgotten Lucy dear nor ever will

You be as long as life & memory lasts I will

Love and remember thee.

Lucy died leaving 7 children 13 years of age and under. There is no record of where the children were until the 1910 census and then they were all in a different town: Soda Springs, Pocatello, Inkom, Blackfoot, Portneuf Precinct, and we don’t know where Lissie and the baby Roxy were.

Fawn (13) was married to Andrew C. Rankin 1 Mar 1909 in Burley, Cassia, ID at the age of 16.

Lissie (10) died in 1907, age 13. I haven’t been able to find her grave.

Lucy Emmaline (8) on the 1910 census was in Pocatello 3-PCT, Bannock, ID. Occupation: servant, age 15,

working as a housemaid for Curtis H. Larson, wife Emma J. and Baby son. Lucy married Clarence Jolley

19 Sept 1912 at Marshfield, Cassia, ID.

Harry Charles (6) on the 1910 census, age 11, was living with his Aunt and Uncle, Eathan F. & Lucina

Williams Cutler at Inkom, Bannock, ID.

Opal (3) on the 1910 census, age 9, was living with Ben W. and Clara Houck Holbrook. (Clara Houck,

daughter of Abigail Lewis Williams Houck, is Opal’s mothers niece.) Opal was listed as “daughter”and

lives at Blackfoot, Bingham, ID.

Lucy Eva (1) on the 1910 census, age 6, living at Portneuf Precinct, Bannock, ID. with William Godfrey,

Wife, and 6 children other than Lucy. William Godfrey is a 45 year old Farmer. Lucy E. Potter is listed

as a step-daughter. On the 1920 census: Lava Hot Springs, Bannock, ID, William R. Godfrey, wife

Drucilla, daughters Eva L age 15 (I believe this to be our Lucy Eva), Roxey R age 15, and Elma E. age 13.

Lucy married Paul Revere Merrill 8 Mar 1920 at Pocatello, Bannock, ID using the name Lucy Eva

Godfrey.

Roxy Reida (0) is found for the first time since her Mother’s death. She is on the 1920 census, Lava Hot

Springs, Bannock, ID as Roxey R, daughter, age 15, with William R Godfrey head-of-house, wife

Drucilla, daughters Eva L and Elma E, Joseph & Darthella E in the household. Roxie Reida Godfrey

married Thomas Valentine Denning on 29 Sept 1921 at Logan, Cache, UT.

Isaac Smith Potter, father of children, was born 9 Dec 1855 in Springville, Utah, UT and died 30 Nov 1911 at Lava Hot Springs, Bannock, ID and was buried 2 Dec 1911 in Norton Cemetery, McCammon, Bannock, ID. His parents were Isaac Smith and Mary Ford Potter.

On 30 Nov 1908 Isaac married Ella Y Chesley in Albion, Cassia, ID. Both Issac and Chesley lived in Burley. In 1910 census he was in Albion, Cassia, ID, Gullian P Walberg, mining prospector was head-of-house. Isaac Potter, helper, age 51, married 2, out of work 20 weeks during 1909, occupation: sheep trader (? Census hard to read). Two other men were living in the house. I could not find Ella on a census anywhere.

Rhoda Abigail Potter, born 16 Jun 1881 in Albion, married Henry Adamson 1 Sep 1898 in Albion, and died 1 Sep 1952.

May Belle Potter, born 6 Mar 1884 in Albion, married Charles Henry Potter 25 Mar 1902 in Downey, Bannock, ID.

Warren S Potter, born 6 Feb 1886 in LostRiver, Custer, ID, married Emeline Campbell 22 Nov 1910 in Pocatello, and died 16 Oct 1971 in Butte, Silver Bow, MT.

Gertie Potter was born 27 Mar 1888 in LostRiver, Custer, ID, and died 3 Apr 1888, just 7 days old.

Isaac Burton Potter was born 15 Jun 1889 in Eagle Rock, Idaho Falls, Bingham, ID, married Clara Josephine Godfrey (daughter of William R. Godfrey) 17 Aug 1910 in Pocatello, Bannock, ID, and died 26 Nov 1955 in Pocatello. He was buried 29 Nov 1955 in Lava Hot Springs, Bannock, ID.
