MOTION: made/seconded (Harv/Marian) and moved

That: Minutes of the 12/8/2009 D/DL Committee meeting be approved.

3.  UPDATES

·  We have 110 ETUDES sites supporting 120 sections, and a few non-ETUDES sites

·  We have an upgraded “dsl everywhere” device

·  David Ching and Laxmi Pandey have been assigned to address accreditation issues related to distance ed.

·  There is now a tutor in the library to help online students with tech issues, login problems, etc.

4.  OUTREACH AND SUPPORT FOR NEW FACULTY

·  We’re busy updating the online users’ site for our faculty (this is separate from ETUDES’ Users’ site); The Distance Learning Manual is there, as well.

·  We have many online instructors now, but no systematic method for bringing them smoothly into the system and letting them know we’re here to help with mentoring and support. There was a discussion of several ways to address this: perhaps the use of CCConfer; also e-mail, and follow-up phone calls about 2 weeks before the semester starts. (CCConfer sessions could perhaps be used for Flex credit)

5.  DL MANUAL

·  The rough draft is now online at the users’ site. Committee members are asked to look it over and provide feedback to Joan and Bob.

6.  VIRTUAL HARBOR

·  This has become a project of the Marketing Committee, which will help publicize the services available for online students, as well as virtual services available for all students.

7.  PROGRAM REVIEW

·  This is on hold, as the manual is in process.

8.  ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR

·  ETUDES has workshops for faculty on the first Tuesday of every month.

·  Bob is getting questions about adding links within people’s websites to various web tools, such as counseling, library services and orientation, tutoring, etc. We should probably have a central location where students can access this information
