2.  MINUTES –

MOTION: made/seconded (Ellen/Sally) and moved

That: Minutes of the 12/09/2008 D/DL Committee meeting be approved with one correction: on section 508 compliance, the minutes should read, “This will not have an effect on faculty evaluation.”

3.  UPDATES

·  We are moving to offer 3 online AA degrees: Business, Administration of Justice, and Fire Technology

·  World Café: “Virtual College” was one of the tables, run by Lora Lane and Joan, and discussed the idea of “the virtual campus.”

·  In May, the Galvan Group will offer a seminar on ways we can improve our online offerings.

·  Sally asked if we can require an e-mail address for students signing up for online classes. We can, in the new registration system. Bob said he’ll also see if there’s a way to automate a notification to students to “appear” on Week 1.

4.  AGENDA

·  The section 508 review is ongoing; the plan is that all online classes will have been reviewed by May 8.

·  We will try to get an ETUDES orientation going for new online instructors. There is an ETUDES orientation available for students.

5.  ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR

·  Ellen asked if there is a process by which we can do an evaluation of the class, in either an official or unofficial way. Bob said we can do that through ETUDES, unofficially. But the District is putting together a neutral site for all online classes to do class and instructor evaluations. The AFT and the Senate have also formed committees to address online class evaluation issues.

·  Tricia asked what we all do about plagiarism. The maximum penalty is a 0 for the assignment. Bob said that we should investigate getting a license for Turnitin.
