Happy Spring Break! "Bored" they say? nothing to do...SKETCH
from real life objects, fill those art sketchbooks!
Week in Review April 3-10
Monday – Friday-
We continued our focus on sculptural techniques. Armature-a framework to
build sculptures upon.
Students created armatures, drape molded or slab formed life sized,
proportional busts Josh and James have them glaze fired, whoop whoop. 8
more will be bisque fired over break and the rest will be completed by end
of May! These will be showing in the library for a time before coming
home. Some students began personal still life compositions, focusing upon
objects that represent themselves organized in an interesting way and
drawn originally very realistically in values, shapes, and lines. We will
work with these in color after our short hiatus.
Grecian vessels and zooamugs should all be coming home today along with
Portrait Projects! We will focus upon drawing skills and careers in art
upon returning from spring break.
Looking Ahead: FIELD TRIP Tacoma Art Museum
Students will create, produce and respond to a detailed, painted piece
April 24! WE will leave campus at 9:00 am and return by 1:45 pm. Sack
lunches and walking shoes are required.
Thank you for returning field trip forms and for those who volunteered to
chaperone. We need one adult for every 10 students to attend the museum
(museum rules), please let me know if you are interested. Chaperones must
fill out a volunteer packet and physically come into the office to show a
picture identification to our administrative staff. Thanks you so much.
