Hanover Area Little League Code of Conduct
All coaches, officials, managers, parents, and spectators must abide by the set forth Hanover Area Little League (H.A.L.L.) Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct has been adopted to better promote fairness, teamwork, trust, good citizenship, sportsmanship, responsibility, and respect among those involved in the Hanover Area Little League. The H.A.L.L. Board of Directors has mandated the following.
No board member, manager, coach, player, official, parent, or spectator shall:
1. At any time lay a hand upon, push, shove, strike, or threaten to strike an official (paid or volunteer), board member, manager, coach, player, official, umpire, parent, or spectator.
2. Be guilty of heaping personal verbal or physical abuse upon any official for any real or imaginary belief of a wrong decision or judgment.
3. Be guilty of an objectionable demonstration of dissent at an official’s decision by throwing of gloves, helmets, hats, bats, balls, or any other forceful unsportsman-like action.
4. Be guilty of using unnecessarily rough tactics in the play of a game against the body of an opposing player.
5. Be guilty of a physical attack upon any board member, official, umpire, manager, coach, player or spectator.
6. Be guilty of the use of profane, obscene or vulgar language in any manner at any time.
7. Appear on the field of play, stands, or anywhere on the Little League complex while in an intoxicated state. Intoxicated will be defined as an odor or behavior issue, whether it is from substance or alcohol.
8. Be guilty of gambling upon any play or outcome of any game with anyone at any time.
9. Smoke while in the stands or on the playing field or in any dugout. Smoking will only be permitted in designated areas which will be 20 feet from any spectator stands or dugouts.
10. Be guilty of publicly discussing with spectators in a derogatory or abusive manner any play, decision or a personal opinion on any players during the game.
11. As a manager or coach, be guilty of mingling with or fraternizing with spectators during the course of the game.
12. Speak disrespectfully to any manager, coach, player, official or representative of the league.
13. Be guilty of tampering or manipulating any league rosters, schedules, draft positions or selections, official score books, rankings, financial records or procedures.
14. Challenge an umpire’s authority. The umpires shall have the authority and discretion during a game to penalize the offender according to the infraction up to and including expulsion from the game.
Please note: The Board of Directors has the right to review all infractions of the Code of Conduct. Depending on the seriousness or frequency, the board may assess additional disciplinary action up to and including expulsion from the league. Note that any violation is at the discretion of the Code of Conduct Committee and Hanover Area Little League Board of Directors. Any violation of the above mention rules will incur the following:
1) Verbal warning, noted to the Code of Conduct Committee and H.A.L.L Board of Directors.
2) Written warning and one league game suspension.
3) Expulsion from all league activities for the remainder of the year.
Physical Abuse: Physical abuse of an official, coach, player, or spectator will result in immediate expulsion from the H.A.L.L. fields at the direction of an umpire or a H.A.L.L. board member. Anyone expelled for this reason may not return to the H.A.L.L. fields or participate in any H.A.L.L. activity until the H.A.L.L. Board of Directors approves.
In addition each parent/guardian must:
· Ensure your child arrives safely to/from each practice and game.
· Ensure your child has the required equipment for participation in HALL (glove, spikes, protective cup, etc.).
· Participate in fundraising opportunities as determined by HALL Board and HALL Division Boards.
· Work the concession stand at your home field as determined by divisional leadership/managers.
