April 23, 2015

Call to Order: 7:04 pm

Attendance: Leslie Miller, Stephanie Hermann, Denise Chiacco, Rachel Richardson, Jen Stout, Amanda Crocco, Kristen Molinaro, Deirdre Wilson, Jessica Irwin, Michelle Lawler, Jen Hopkins, Wyeth Jones

  1. Approve Minutes- motion made and seconded to approve minutes from Meeting on March 5th
  1. Finishing up 2015 (10 minutes)
  • Volunteers needed for events: 5/1- Health Fair, 5/15-Ion Jones, 5/8- Plant Day, 5/6 Staff Luncheon.
  • Email reminder went to homeroom moms about door decorating? Yes
  • Need to make invitation for committee chairs to attend Volunteer Breakfast Thursday May 28
  • Discussion of funding additional books for library: Motion was made to approve $400 additional for purchase of books for Library. After much discussion, motion was denied. (already spent $500, $1,000 scholastic).
  • Camp Invention: Motion was made to fund request for two scholarships. $419 is already allotted in budget for the camp scholarships. Motion approved for two scholarships. Amount is still undetermined.
  • Kindercamp May 11/12: PTO representatives to be present and discuss (welcome, Target/Giant Eagle, committies , events, trifold, yr at glance, notepads)
  1. 2015-2016 Committee Chairs- Still Need (10 minutes)
  • Apple Crunch- easy 1 day event. Kristin Molinaro will chair.
  • Go for the Greens (same idea with veggies)- easy one day March 17th Kristin Molinaro.
  • Assemblies
  • Book Swap- Diedre Wilson will help Shannon Coffey
  • Fundraising
  • Welcome Back breakfasts
  • Star Reader Breakfast- FYI being replaced by Barnes and Noble program, free book (No committee chair needed)
  • Need co-chair for Holiday Shop
  • Raffle Baskets chair for Pizza Bingo

Action item: Stephanie will contact Jill Gruber to send Hance email to recruit volunteers

  1. Brainstorming Fundraisers (30 Minutes)

a) Original Artworks- was well received. We are going to do again, but with some adjustments (do our own letter).

b) Boosterthon- (Having students raise $ per lap run/walked) liked it, but decided not to do this year.

c) Schwan’s – will continue but reduce in budget to 500

d) Go Fund It- Voted no

e) November- Superb has Winter Wonderland catalog – Voted no

f) Afterschool babysitting drop off (Wexford: $10 pick-up kids at 6, pizza and movie)- Voted no

g) Evening Night Event family- yes. Looking possibly Jan, depending on availability, Michelle Lawler will research possible concert event by Scott Blakely of the “Clarks”

h) Bricks with family names for Habitat- possibly, Wyeth Jones to research.

i) Kristin M. works for Highmark, is researching Health grant to pay for Health day.

  2. Ice Cream Social= Fall Festival – expand to 15-18 booths, 40 raffle baskets, & food trucks- Projected to raise $2,500, will replace KidStuff books fundraiser.
  3. Pizza Bingo- Feb. Continue raffle baskets and bake sale
  1. Budget Review (10 minutes)
  2. Adjustments- approved $180 for notebooks (grade level funds 3rd), $400 for Camp Intervention (Outreach), and $75 for Sec. day
  3. Reviewed this year’s budget and made recommendations for next year’s budget. Total Reciepts: $9,600.58, Ending balance: $16,680.06
