Survival Camp 24th – 26th October 2014

Dear ADC’s and District Representatives
Survival Camp will be taking place again this year at Pinsent Scout Camp Site, Winchester. The booking form and other important documents are attached to this communication.
All cubs aged 91/2 or over with a minimum of 5 nights away (3 of which must be under canvas) are eligible to attend. Please remember this is not a camp for inexperienced campers it can get cold and wet and we do not want to put the young people of camping permanently.
We do not charge for leaders attending the camp but we do ask that your leaders run bases and help in other areas. If leaders do not have Nights Away Permits this is not a problem as the camp organisers have all the relevant permits your leaders just need to be DBS cleared and hold a scouting appointment (Occasional helpers may attend but they also must be DBS cleared and in addition to the leader in charge).
We are currently looking for volunteers to run bases and the areas where we have no one to cover at the moment are
First Aid (equipment will be available, but they are welcome to bring their own)
Cooking – Fire based backwoods cooking (Leader running will be responsible for providing ingredients and any suggestions for what to cook)
Mental Agility (All equipment will be provided)
All the bases require supervision for the whole of the programme time so a team of people to enable breaks is desirable. All leaders running bases will be responsible for Risk Assessing that activity prior to and during the camp (I am available to provide assistance with this on email and via my landline.
Finally booking is on a first come first served basis when maximum numbers are reached a waiting list will be drawn up, please book early to avoid disappointment. If a leader in your district is unable to attend please can other leaders in the district support each other if this is not possible please let me know before the event and we will try and accommodate the young people.
