The Hamden Youth Services Bureau’s Youth Center is pleased to announce the 1st Annual Community Day Basketball Games which will be held on Saturday March 29th 2008 in the Hamden Middle School gymnasium. The program will start at 12:00 noon with a schedule of three basketball games featuring some of the areas finest athletes. The main event will be the Hamden Police Department versus the Youth Center’s high schools all-stars. There will also be spectacular halftime performances by the Ultimate Dance Experience, The Lady Dragon Steppers, and the Hamden High School Cheerleaders. The entry fee is only $2.00 and refreshments will be sold.

The Community Day Basketball Games Event is designed to bring together citizens, businesses and civic organizations from the Town of Hamden to share in the positive fellowship of our youth. Youth participating in the event are members of the Youth Center’s after-school program which is currently located in the Michael J. Whalen Activity Center (the former Hamden Middle School gymnasium). The after-school program offers year round quality programming such as tutoring, positive peer relations, sports leagues, a recreation room with video games, billiards and ping-pong tables and board games.

This wonderful event will also feature a Hamden celebrity athlete. Former Chicago Bulls basketball player and Assistant Basketball Coach of the Quinnipiac Men’s Basketball team, Scott Burrell will be joining us along with “Boomer” and Quinnipiac student athletes to interact with the youth and sign autographs.

The staff and youth of the Hamden Youth Center urge you and your families to come out and support our youth at this joyous event. All proceeds will benefit The Hamden Youth Center.
