OLD BUSINESS:
Monthly Conservation Commission (CC) hike
Brett St. Clair led February’s hike in the Kimball Pond Conservation Area. Four Commission members snow shoed up Whipple Road to the foundation of the Whipple homestead and returned to the boat launch by way of the Great Meadows and Kimball Pond. A few trees were cleared from Whipple Road that probably had been damaged in December’s ice storm.
Larry Cook will be emailing monthly hike information to interested townspeople. Currently 132 residents have signed up to receive the notices.
“Merrimack River Watershed Wetlands Restoration Strategy” meeting
Larry Cook and Margaret Watkins attended the informational meeting in Manchester, NH. Some grants will be available in the future through this program. Unfortunately a Town will probably need to hire a qualified consultant in order to determine the cost of a project before applying for grant money.
NEW BUSINESS:
Saving Special Places 2009
The Society for the Protection of NH Forests is sponsoring a workshop on April 4, 2009 in Gilford, NH. Margaret Watkins volunteered to attend. A motion to cover the cost of the workshop out of the Commission’s operating budget was made by Mel Gendron and passed unanimously.
