HALF-PRICE COURSES AND FREE BUSINESS MASTERCLASSES ON OFFER TO NOTTINGHAMSHIRE MANAGERS

The Open University Business School (OUBS) is offering half-price course fees to managers in small and medium-sized businesses and the voluntary sector throughout Nottinghamshire.

The OUBS is also holding a series of free business masterclasses for all managers covering issues such as dealing with change, and how to increase profit and cashflow.

The OUBS can offer the reduced price course fees thanks to a successful bid for European funding through the Nottingham Learning and Skills Council.

Voluntary sector managers, or small to medium enterprise (SME) managers from companies with fewer than 250 employees, can study a three-month module from the Professional Certificate in Management.

The courses available are: Managing; Managing People; Managing Finance and Information; or Managing Customers and Quality, with start dates in May and August.

The half-price course fee reduces the cost of the chosen course to £300.

Those who choose to continue studying the remaining three modules at the full price can build to a Professional Certificate in Management and then go on to study for the Professional Diploma in Management and the MBA.

To qualify for the fee reduction, managers and aspiring managers must live or work in Nottinghamshire.

OUBS Regional Manager Lin Smith says that over the last three years more than 40 managers have taken advantage of this offer with tremendous success:

“Of those who have studied a half-price module with us, around 90% have continued with the programme at their own expense, or have received support from their employer, and qualified with the Certificate in Management,” she said. m/f

Alison Hollyer from ILEX, the Institute of Legal Executives in Nottingham, starting studying for the Certificate in Management after taking a half-price course. She said:

"For me it was an ideal way to return to lifelong learning after a long gap. The flexible nature of the course allowed me to put my toe in the educational pool again and the offer of half-price fees was an added bonus."

The OUBS is also organising a free Masterclass Series of seminars which are open to all managers and will cover a full range of management development issues. The seminars will be held in April, May and June.

To book a place on the seminar series, or to register for the half-price course offer, contact the OUBS Enquiries and Advice team on 0115 962 5475 or e-mail Linda Fisher at , as soon as possible.
