Half Day grammar workshop in September

Purpose / To assistattendeesto develop their understandings of grammar in order to fully comprehend and to effectively teach the Australia Curriculum: English (AC:E).
Outline / In both sessions we’ll work with a series of short texts suitable for use in secondary school English classrooms. Some will be complete texts and others will be extracts from longer works. In the main, they will be literary texts or ones that could be used in conjunction with them.
Attendees will be guided in the analysis of the grammatical choices that have been made in their composition and have the opportunity to consider how those choices construct particular sorts of meanings. Evaluative language (the Appraisal system) and nominalisation will feature in some of the chosen texts.
