HAITI - Suggested Pack List – Pack Simply
TIP # 1 Pack an extra change of clothes in your carry-on just in case luggage doesn’t arrive. It happens.
You are allowed one carry on. Put your passport and a pen in your carry on
TIP # 2 Weigh your bag and mark on the bag how much it weighs. What you pack you get to carry.
You are allowed 1 bag checked under the plane.
TIP # 3 Don’t pack large quantities of liquids in your carry on. They will be thrown away- every time. Liquids have to be less than 1 1/2 ounces) sunscreen, water, mosquito repellant, shampoo, etc.
TIP # 4 Dress Simply on travel day. If you haven’t flown recently it is either amusing or irritating; liquids go in a clear plastic zip lock, you take off shoes, jacket, belt, hat, jewelry, empty pockets, basically undress, redress, unpack laptop, cell phone, kindle or ipad and repack again.
Ø Passport and Pen, Put Copy of your passport in your suitcase;
Ø Money for airport food, church offering and souvenirs
Ø All your medicines–in a zip lock in your carry on. Very important.
Ø Creole Phrase List
Ø Motion sickness medicine if you need it
Ø Water bottle – empty until you get through security
Ø Travel pillow and blanket
Ø Mosquito repellant, at least 30% Deet, in a zip lock
Ø Mosquito net – if you have a good one bring it. The guesthouse has screens.
Ø Longsleeve shirt and long pants to block mosquitos is suggested by CDC.
Ø Gatorade powder – in a zip lock, other snack foods if you like.
Ø Sunscreen- in a zip lock, Sunglasses, Hat, small bandana for dust
Ø Modest swimsuit, cover-up, if there is a beach trip or place to swim
Ø Flashlight if you wish
Ø Camera
Ø Journal, Pen, Book or Kindle,
Ø Toiletries (in a zip lock) in your checked bag.
Ø Small Towel or travel towel.
Ø Laxative if you have problems when you travel.
Ø Foam ear plugs
Ø One roll of toilet paper and one roll of paper towels
Ø 2 large trash bags in bottom of your bag; work gloves; just handy in case
Ø Hand sanitizer, soap, alcohol wipes
Ø Small backpack or bag for village life
Ø Pics of your family and life at home,
Ø Light weight modest clothes 3-4 changes;
Ø Sturdy sandles/shoes; or workboots, comfortable is my motto, flips flops for showers/house etc.
Ø “D” battery powered personal fan. We have free-standing osscilating fans in rooms.
DON’T WEAR OR BRING EXPENSIVE ANYTHING!
DON’T PLAN ON TALKING TO YOUR FAMILY. WE CALL ONLY IN EMERGENCY.
DO NOT GIVE OUT CANDY/TOYS TO CHILDREN . IT CAUSES A RIOT.
DO BRING GROUP JUMP ROPES AND SOCCER BALLS FOR LOTS OF KIDS TO PLAY TOGETHER WITH YOU.
