The New Victoria Theatre, Woking is delighted to announce the autumn season packed full of top quality productions to fill your diary over the next few months. The new season brochure is available and boasts an incredible array of shows with, quite literally something for everyone.

The No.1 Greatest Musical, Grease, electrifies Woking from 19 – 24 September. Starring winner of ITV’s Grease is the Word Danny Bayne as Danny, West End starlet Carina Gillespie as Sandy and Ice Champion Robin Cousins as Teen Angel this is the original High School Musical! With all the unforgettable hits including You’re The One That I Want, Grease Is the Word, Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted To You, Sandy, Greased Lightnin’ and many more this feel good show won’t disappoint!
Celebrating what would have been his 75th birthday when it’s here in Woking (on 7 Sept), the hit Rock ‘n’ Roll musical, Buddy, jives and shakes from 5 – 10 September. This sensational musical charts the story of the legendary Buddy Holly, featuring all the timeless classics including That’ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Oh Boy, Rave On and many more.
This November, world renowned star, Tommy Steele, stars in the heart-warming family story Scrooge from 7 – 12 November. The London Palladium production has stunning set and costumes, fantastical musical score which features the Oscar nominated hit Thank You Very Much as well as specially created illusions by magician Paul Kieve – acclaimed for the magic effects in the Harry Potter films.
Partial to a spot of 50s, 60s and 70s nostalgia? A brand new musical concert celebrating all the hits from rock ‘n’ roll legends including Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, Del Shannon and Ricky Nelson, Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven brings the legends alive from 22 – 26 November. Prepare yourself for a celebration on 19 October, as That’ll Be the Day returns with the brand new tour of the rock ‘n’ roll variety show. The remarkable tribute artist Lee ‘Memphis’ King takes you from the ’68 comeback special to the Vegas years with One

Night of Elvis on 22 October. The iconic band, The Hollies, come to Woking for one night only, 24 October
performing their classic hits including The Air That I Breathe, Bus Stop and He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother and on 13 November, The Drifters perform the groups greatest hits including Under the Boardwalk, Up On the Roof and Kissin’ In The Back Row.

For those who love some drama in their lives, you will not be disappointed this season. There will be drama and suspense in the air from 22 – 27 August, with Agatha Christie’s Verdict, the most riveting and compelling drama by the undisputed ‘Queen of Crime.’ From 26 September – 1 October, the multi-award winning production of Journey’s End, directed by David Grindley comes direct from the West End. The production has won unanimous critical praise, set in the British trenches at St Quentin 1918; this gripping tale is based on the author, R.C.Sheriff’s own experience in the trenches. 15 – 17 September brings brand new production, Keeler, starring Paul Nicholas. The play reveals the sensational inside story of the infamous Profumo affair; the biggest political sex scandal to rock the British nation in the 20th century.

There’s plenty to laugh about this season with a new play by Bafta award-winning writer Nick Fisher, Basket Case, from 10 – 15 October. This quick witted and contemporary comedy stars stage and TV actors, Nigel Havers, Christine Kavanagh, David Cardy and Graham Seed. Master of observational comedy and star of Mock the Week and Have I Got News for You, Ed Byrne, arrives with his new show, Crowd Pleaser, 2 October. Comedy cabaret trio and Olivier Award nominees, Fascinating Aida fly in with their Cheap Flights Tour, 9 October. They’ll be a barrel of laughs on 18 October, with Al Murray the Pub Landlord; Britain’s best-known Pub Philosopher will be serving up his special brew of bar room banter for the Woking audiences with his show Barrel of Fun Extra. Perrier Award nominee and star of Live At The Apollo and QI, Reginald D Hunter brings his intelligent and distinctive performance with a brand new show, Sometimes Even the Devil Tells the Truth, 22 October. Laughter is the best form of medicine especially those with a sick sense of humour, luckily Jimmy Carr is on hand to cure you with his show, Laughter Therapy, 25 and 27 October. One of the greatest card magician’s in the world – Jerry Sadowitz’s show is not for the easily offended, 27 November. Multi award-winning stand-up, television and film star, Omid Djalili brings his Tour of Duty to Woking on 30 October. Eva Ensler’s Broadway and West End smash-hit, Vagina Monologues returns for one night only, 28 October, featuring Louise Lytton (Eastenders, The Bill), Wendi Peters (Coronation Street, Celebrity Masterchef) and Tiana Benjamin (Eastenders). An unmissable show for every generation!

Glyndebourne on Tour makes its annual visit to the New Victoria Theatre, 1 – 5 November, with productions of Puccini’s heartbreaking score La Boheme; a new production and a new Opera for the Tour, Donizetti’s Don Pasquale and direct from 2011 Glyndebourne Festival Handel’s Rinaldo. The New Victoria Theatre is proud to be one of just six venues presenting Glyndebourne’s world renowned opera productions.

Dance lovers are treated to the exquisitely beautiful Cleopatra, 4 – 8 November, by the renowned dance company Northern Ballet. Composer Claude-Michel Schönberg (Miss Saigon, Les Misérables) and Northern Ballet Artistic Director David Nixon combine to bring the story of an enduring icon of the ancient world to life.
Fun for your little monkey’s in November as the Birmingham Stage Company brings the classic story by Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle Book, to Woking from 15 – 19 November. Join Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera and Shere Khan on this wide adventure!

Celebrity psychic, Sally Morgan returns on 21 October, and Woking Hospice’s Charity Gala, starring Bobby Davro, the Big Band and a host of special guests is held on 25 September, with all proceeds going towards the Woking Hospice. There is a host of musical tributes with Respect La Diva, a brand new one night musical celebrating to some of the greatest female stars of all time, 17 October. Charting the life and times of Eva Cassidy, Over the Rainbow follows from her first professional gig to recording at Blues Alley with Chuck Brown. The ultimate Queen experience with one of the world’s most authentic tributes, Mercury, perform all the classic hits including We Will Rock You, A Kind Of Magic, Bohemian Rhapsody and Killer Queen, 20 November.

Steve McFadden, one of the most recognisable soap villains in the country, returns to Woking as the dastardly Captain Hook, in this year’s swashbuckling family panto, Peter Pan this Christmas. Joining Steve, and adding a bit of glamour to the pirate crew is The Only Way is Essex’s Harry Derbidge as one Captain Hooks pirate crew and hilarious comedian Andy Collins as Smee! Fly away on a spectacular journey of wonder and excitement into the magical world of Neverland, Peter Pan promises to be a swashbuckling extravaganza, with stunning special effects (including amazing flying!), sumptuous sets and a good helping of fairydust!
