Habitats & Their Flora

This is a 3 day professional training course for ecology consultants (or aspiring ecological consultants) who are looking to broaden their botanical identification skills and become more adept at Phase 1 habitat surveys. This course is ideal for consultants aiming to gain Level 3 in the Botanical Society of the British Isles Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) www.bsbi.org.uk/training. The training will be provided by TEP’s senior botanist and will entail 2 days in the field visiting a range of habitats in the North West, identifying typical and indicator plant species relating to each habitat covered. The third day will be a classroom session recapping species and habitats identified in the field.

Places are limited to 12 and the cost for attending the course will be £500+VAT (discounted places are available for charities and/or students). All course attendees will be offered half price entry into this year’s Field Identification Skills Test. For an additional fee of £40 attendees can join two of our experienced botanists in a surgery session at the end of the third day. There will be the opportunity to discuss any identification difficulties and our botanists will do their best to help identify any samples brought along to the surgery session.

The training course will be based at TEP’s Warrington office. Three course dates are available, dating from May through to the end of June:

·  15th-17th May 2013

·  5th-7th June 2013

·  26th-28th June 2013

Please note: overnight accommodation and subsistence cannot be provided by TEP. Packed lunches will be provided.
