VISA TO ENTRY KENYA: INFORMATION TO HIC MEMBERS, FRIENDS AND ALLIES.

Check whether you are eligible to apply for a visa on

  • Kenyan Immigration has instituted a strict visa policy whereby all visitors are strongly encouraged to obtain visas by using an online system, though visas are available upon arrival at international ports of entry including Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport; however, Kenyan Immigration plans to end visas upon arrival in the near future.
  • NOTE: Citizens of the following countries require a visa that cannot be obtained online or on arrival at the airport but instead this must be done in advance through a Kenyan Embassy: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cameroon, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Eritrea, Iraq, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Palestine, Senegal, Somalia, Syria, Tajikistan.

Additional evidence requirements for eVisa:

  • A scanned color copy of the biographical page of the applicant’s current passport (The passport should have at least two blank pages and a six months’ validity.
  • Recent passport-style color photo: (see examples on
  • Photograph dimensions should be 5.5cm x 5.5cm.
  • The head should be centered in the photo and cover about 70% of the photo.
  • It must show a full, clear, and front view of the applicants face.
  • Must have a white background.
  • Head should be, un-retouched, centered and in focus.
  • Applicant's head, including both face and hair, should be shown from the crown of the head to the tip of the chin.
  • The photograph must be recent, no more than 6 months old.
  • All hats or headgear should be removed for the photo unless worn daily for religious reasons. In such cases, your facial features (eyes, nose and mouth) must be visible in the photograph.
  • Applicant’s expression should be natural, with both eyes open, closed mouth, and looking directly ahead.
  • Scanned or color photocopies of your passport photo will not be accepted.
  • A proof of travel, such as a confirmation email from hotel reservation, flight confirmation, invitation letter or travel itinerary.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You should have proof of yellow fever immunizations, or you may be denied entry. Yellow fever vaccine must be provided at least 15 days before the trip, for immunity to be effective. After vaccination you should be given a "International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis" (yellow card) sealed and signed. This certificate becomes valid 10 days after vaccination and lasts 10 years. You will need this card as proof of vaccination to enter certain countries.
