Position description – Coaching Coordinator (Rhythmic Gymnastics)

The Coaching Coordinator of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Committee is selected annually by the Gymnastics Tasmania Board. The following position description should be used as a guide by the Board in making its decision. This information should also be circulated to all potential nominees and included with nomination forms for committee positions.

Description of the role:

The Coaching Coordinator is a member of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Committee, which works towards setting and achieving the strategic and operational goals of Gymnastics Tasmania for Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Specifically the Coaching Coordinator makes recommendations and provides guidance and knowledge on issues relating to coaching, coach development, coaching pathways, coaching appointments, coach enquiries and Rhythmic Gymnastics generally to ensure the committee makes informed decisions for the best interests of Rhythmic Gymnastics in Tasmania.

The Coaching Coordinator is a volunteer role.

Responsible to:

The Coaching Coordinator reports directly to the Technical Chair of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Committee.

Responsibilities and duties:

The Coaching Coordinator is responsible for the following key tasks as well as any other tasks deemed necessary by the committee or Gymnastics Tasmania Board from time to time:

  • Participate fully in the Rhythmic Gymnastics Committee including:
  • Contributing to discussion
  • Participating in meetings and forums
  • Assisting with the induction new committee members
  • Participate in succession planning practices
  • Adhering to agreed standards for the behaviour and conduct of committee members
  • Disclosing all real and perceived conflicts of interest
  • Producing and maintaining committee documentation when and if required.
  • Contribute to the bimonthly reports on committee progress for the Gymnastics Tasmania Board.
  • Act as the conduit for communication between the Rhythmic Gymnastics Committee and Gymnastics Tasmania coaches.
  • Contribute to the review and publication of the Gymnastics Tasmania Rhythmic GymnasticsHandbook annually.
  • Contribute to the calendaring of all Rhythmic Gymnastics competitions, coaching courses and events.
  • Make recommendations on the conduct, frequency and outcomes of both formal and informal coach education.
  • Make recommendations for the content and conduct of the Rhythmic Gymnastics components of the Gymnastics Tasmania Congress annually.
  • Contribute to the progress of the Gymnastics Tasmania strategic and operational plans.
  • Contribute to the selection recommendations for the Tasmanian State Team annually
  • Recommend and contribute to policy development when necessary.
  • Liaise with the National Coach, National Junior Development Coordinator and Gymnastics Australia Industry Training and Development teams as and when required.
  • Attend state based Gymnastics Tasmania team qualification events including selection events for National Championships and interstate/international tours as required
  • Participate in State Squad Training

Desirable requirements:

It is hoped that nominees to the Coaching Coordinator role possess the following attributes:

  • Current technical member of Gymnastics Tasmania
  • Current qualified Advanced or higherRhythmic Gymnastics Coach
  • High standing and respect in the Gymnastics community within Tasmania
  • Strong written, interpersonal and oral communication skills including the ability to effectively liaise with, member clubs, Gymnastics Tasmania board directors, technical members, club coaches and event staff
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines (sometimes within short timeframes)
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong knowledge of State and national team selection procedures
  • Sound knowledge of the rules and regulations of Rhythmic Gymnastics
  • Strong ability to successfully manage conflict and adhere to all Gymnastics Tasmania and Gymnastics Australia policies, in particular Complaints and Grievances procedures
  • Adherence to Gymnastics Tasmania and Gymnastics Australia codes of behaviour
