NC Pre-K Provider Specialist

The Guilford County Partnership for Children (GCPC) is seeking a NC Pre-K Provider Specialist toprovide consultation and coaching support to Guilford County NC Pre-K teachers to ensure consistent, high quality implementation of approved NC Pre-K curricula and instructional assessment procedures. The NC Pre-K Provider Specialist will serve as Guilford County’s mentor to NC Pre-K teachers providing support and guidance related to birth–kindergarten education and teaching licensure requirements and works in conjunction with the Division of Child Development and Early Education, the Early Educator Support, Licensure and Professional Development (EESLPD) Office, GCPC Provider Services staff, and NC Pre-K teaching staff to ensure that a high-quality pre-kindergarten classroom experience is provided for eligible four-year-olds in Guilford County. An additional function of this position is to assist with the monitoring of NC Pre-K classrooms.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing on-site consultation and coaching services to childcare providers in GuilfordCounty.
  • Responsible for providing high quality trainings to childcare professionals.
  • Responsible for serving as a representative of the local childcare community.
  • Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of early childhood practices that are current and developmentally appropriate.

Education/Experience

Minimum Education – Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field with a Preschool Add-on Licensure (Level 11 Early Educator Certification equivalency).

Preferred Education – North Carolina SP II B-K Licensure and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (Level 12Early Educator Certification equivalency).

Minimum Experience – 5 years of experience working in early childhood settings with at least 2 years working in a public pre-kindergarten program and 2 years serving as an adult educator.

Preferred Experience – a minimum of 5 years working in early childhood settings with a least 2 years working as a childcare administrator for a public pre-kindergarten program and 2 years serving as an adult educator. Three years’ experience implementing Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold.

Requirements

The NC Pre-K Lead Provider Specialist is required to have knowledge of the NC Pre-K Requirements and Guidance; birth–kindergarten education and teaching licensure requirements; early childhood education assessment tools and curriculums; developmentally appropriate practice; North Carolina childcare rules and regulations; local initiatives; organizations and agencies that serve children and families; and higher education supports for all childcare providers. A valid North Carolina driver’s license is required.
